Hey everybody, just wanted to share my experience with my PW! I haven’t ever joined a forum before, so this is a first for me.
I recently bought a 2019 power wagon in October, I have put a total of 13k miles on it, runs like a champ.
My mods are
-35inch Toyo MTs.
-X-pipe
-Dual borla XR1s
-Dual borla resonators
-husky liner floor mats
-K&N filter
My issues have been
-blue smoke on startup when the truck is facing down a hill or embankments and left over night. This did not start until 10k miles.
-If the truck sits a while it will blow out a super small glimpse of fog/smoke, you can barely see it.
-rear camera will sometimes not work when you crank the truck. Very odd. Once restarted works great.
-had a engine tap at 1000 miles and was using a lot of oil. So I changed the oil from factory oil to Pennzoil as recommend, tapped worse and used more oil! At 4000 miles I stopped using the overpriced Pennzoil 0-40. Starting using Castrol 0-40 no more tap and no more oil usage. A lot cheaper too, could careless if it doesn’t meet standard my truck runs better.
-10 mpg to and from work, since it is my commuter vehicle is brutal. But it’s nice to scare a Prius every now and then so it’s all good.
Good story
-I had to drive down an abandoned mining trail in the worst mud and funk known to mankind to pull out a few stuck trucks out what I would consider a quick sand type mud (Z71, Toyota Tundra and ford excursion). I honestly didn’t know if I would make it back to them, which was about a mile of horrible terrain. Not only did I make it, but I pulled two out and dragged the Z71 the entire way out because of his broke transfer case. I’ve never owned such a beast of a truck. After looking back on it, if I would of got stuck I would of had to winch myself to each tree for a mile to make it out. Not sure if it was a such a good idea to go, but no one else would and that’s what friends are for.
Wanted mods
-catch can to decrease this smoke on startup? What the deal with this? Smoking at 10k miles. Evidently it is the norm, never had a truck do this, Mopar is not what it used to be. The last month it hasn’t smoked once but then on a cold morning on a hill, there will be smoke.
-426 striker kit, 5-6yrs from now. Wouldn’t that be cool?
besides that, couldn’t of asked for a better vehicle.
I’ll post a few photos below, I hope you all enjoy this read and I hope it helps people who buy one or have one. By the way, the x-pipe, dual borlas and resonators makes this truck sound mean, no drone, and fast.
