Just brought home a new to me 18 1500. When I press the volume button to turn off the radio it only mutes.

I have a warranty but I'm wondering if anyone else has this going on. I'd rather keep this out of the dealer unless absolutely necessary.

Thanks

Bob

What the others said, you cannot turn it off.
What's interesting is my new 2020 3500 I can turn the radio off. However, turning the radio off also shuts down the whole 12" screen system. I would rather have it just muting the radio like my 2016 1500.

It is odd. I have a 2019 Challenger Scat Pak with a similar radio set up and I can turn that radio off. Turns the screen off as you describe as well.

*** amount of years ago, FCA went with the 8.4 where U cannot turn off the radio, only mute. Now, 2019, the option to turn off Radio's has been put back into the 4C and above radio's. It was indeed a surprise when I bought my 2015 ED, got home, and wala, I could not turn off the radio. SO when I went back to dealer, got the lil surprise, U cannot turn off. WALA. Felt stupid asking that question. I lived and learned.

You’re talking about FULLY turning off the radio or just turning off the display, if so, my 2013 has that...

FULLY turning off radio as per the OP's question on this thread. U as of 2019's can turn off the Radio instead of just muting/hiding the screen.

I don’t understand as to why you’d want to fully turn off your radio, but to each their own.

if its a 8.4 there is a screen off button.

I saw that, just thought I had a problem with the radio. I don't have an owners manual yet. Being I'm a second owner Mopar wants to charge me 40 bucks for a 2018 owners manual. Dealer is gonna locate one for me, allegedly.

In most new vehicles these days the "Radio" is much more than just a music device. Yeah, we all know that, but yet there is more. This "Radio" controls a lot of functions in the vehicle, and as long as the vehicle has power, that "Radio" needs to stay powered up. Many of them appear to turn off, but actually don't, and stay running in the background to continue to help with the many other functions they control and help keep your truck working.

Hope that helps out.

Thank you. Makes perfect sense.

Hi, I'm sorry to hear this. Please let me know if you plan on visiting a dealership for this concern. I would be happy to open a case for you.
