man I am so %#%^#%^##%^ sick of seeing other peoples' glare burning a hole in my retina from their low grade B.S. LED "up"grades.. and of course nobody thinks that applies to them.

I can tell you what if I see your truck coming toward me or in my mirrors and your headlights are spamming out glare, you've been judged at that point and it ain't favorable.
You're assuming that if it's bright then they're using aftermarket. I've seen some very bright and glaring factory LEDs too.

Personally in my truck I've got the GTR CSP Minis LED bulbs in my high and low beams, and the way they are constructed to be smaller than most other LED bulbs I did not have to do any sort of modification to the headlight assembly or the dust caps. I'm happy with how the light output is, and since I have them angled properly they don't blind everyone else.

You have a 2014, so should not need alfaOBD. As for the light choice, ensure they have a secondary dial in them so you can position them correctly to throw the correct beam pattern.

LED’s in open-reflector style headlights are fine as long as you do not use cheap bulbs. You get what you pay for. The price is what you pay, the quality is what you get out of it!

A year ago I installed VLEDS 5K Micro Evolution for my low beams and Micro 6K Extreme for my high beams. Extremely satisfied all around!
https://www.vleds.com/shop-application/application-low-beam/h11-h8-h9.html

VLEDS now have a new Micro limited LED headlight. Not as brights as the Evolution (2500 lumens vs 3500) and ship July. Reg $100 but pre-order now for $25 off ($75 pair). All bulbs come with 2 year warranty.

I also have the 5K fogs to match the headlights, but I really ever use fogs unless the weather is bad. I’m thinking about the Underground Lighting 3K Yellow and will PM them for a quote. I use my fogs driving on the highway for daytime running most days.

TIPS: Low beam fit behind the factory dust caps, the high do not. If you go with high beams you will need to purchase separate dust caps. Also you need to pull the front grill to remove headlight capsules. Not a lot of work but extra. Change out your front factory marker / blinker glass bulbs while your there. Consider it ‘routine maintenance’.

I agree with you mostly on price. I will say though there are MANY overpriced brands and many of theses lights are the same bulbs sold under different names at different price points.

I personally wouldn't spend over $75 per pair. There are many quality offerings up to that price.

I have had good luck with Hikari in fogs and Hikari Ultras in lows. I've also used Kitana LEDs and they were good but the color temperature was too cool for my eyes.

Discussed these at length in this thread...

Cougar Motor 3.0 Golds in my 2010.
Fit under the caps, silent fans, CANBUS safe.
No errors, very bright, lock in perfect.

I think the real test for glare comes down to standing outside and looking back at your truck from standing height, 20 feet away. If the lights look dim, almost off... well maybe your bulbs are OK. If they look bright from 5+ feet off the ground and you're not on a 12 inch lift and 40's they're just making glare.

I installed Supernova V.4 LED's in my 2018 Quad high, low and fogs. I got them from Headlight Revolution and they are extremely bright. They came clocked from the factory to shoot out at the 3 and 9 o'clock positions, but are adjustable if needed. I adjusted the beam location to match the original halogen bulbs and have never been flashed by oncoming cars. My only complaint is that they wont run as DRL's. They show as "Bulb Out" when I tried to do so with the factory DRL setting.

They were plug and play without any modifications and that I really like.

Yup, I know what you mean. I got the Diode Dynamics low and high beam LED's. The low beams installed correctly as delivered with the LED's pointing to 3 and 9 o'clock and provide excellent light output. I had to adjust the mounting ring for the high beams, though, as they were out 90 degrees. That meant, however, that things were so tight I could not install the cover and used some duct tape to cover the hole. Not ideal but it works. If I had to do it again, I would only get the low beam LED's and get some Sylvania Ultrabrights for the high beam since you don't use them much anyway, plus save about $100. I talked to DD about this but they didn't have a clue. Nice thing with these LED's was that no messages were generated and no need for Alpha OBD. I have a 2015 with Quads.

Here's the problem I was referring to. The good thing is I have backups for the low beams as the bulbs are the same, only the mounting ring is different and can be interchanged. If one should go out, I'll do what I suggested above.

Just my 2 cents.

Pete

Did this end up working for you? I have the same SL1s for the highbeams and I couldn’t get the dust cover on. I was thinking of doing something like this but I ended up just putting my Hikaris back in the high beams. They work ok but I’d rather use the much better quality SL1s.

Also where is everyone getting those rubber dust caps?

Anyone running leds in there reflector headlight housing? Currently have silverstar ultras and while they are good i want more without changing to projectors. Was gonna try Novsight leds on Amazon and see how they do but read LEDs in reflectors is a bad idea.

Save your money. The best LED's are from GTR.com. The "Ultra 2" are the best. That is what I am running and you get no error messages whatsoever! Lifetime warranty and in this case you get what you pay for. Good luck.

It's only an upgrade if it's actually an improvement.

Just because people spend money on things doesn't make them an upgrade.

Do you know what LEDs will fit inside the stock quad headlights without Messing with the covers?
I used Heise, LED lows and fogs, all fit. Lows fit under the cover.
