Mine is in the shop right now. They said 2 are broken on the RH side. Extended warranty will not cover because 'it's just bolts and stuff'. They said they would cover if the manifolds were warped. The service advisor says they don't think its warped. I asked how he would know and if they were removed. He said they are not removed and suspects the cause to be corrosion. Corrosion?? Why haven't the other 14 or so bolts broken to the point of corrosion??? So, they want $725 to repair it. I'll put up with it a little while longer while I weigh my other options. I'll sell or trade it before I go do that. Or have a local shop look at it or reconsider doing it myself. This is the kind of thing that begins to make me not consider another Dodge.

****^^^if you feel that way drive to another dealership even if it's further away. Going in if you think they are going to do a ****** job, you'll probably get just what you expected.

I did drive it to the further dealership (Milton, FL) in hopes to avoid this kind of nonsense. Lose-Lose situation at this point.

We replace pretty much every manifold when we do the repair. We used to get them machined, but FCA said they won’t pay to have that done anymore, the manifold should be replaced if it’s warped beyond spec.

I’ve never seen one that wasn’t way beyond spec. The spec is 0.008”/foot, most the ones I see are in the 0.050” range. So they’re trashed.

We even got in **** from one of the head warranty guys that came down for replacing to many. Told us “other dealers aren’t replacing them”, that’s cause they don’t bother to actually inspect them.

I honestly don’t know why other dealers don’t replace them, it’s easier, and greatly reduces the chances of the bolts breaking again.
...and the new manifolds will warp once they've been heated and cooled enough... and you'll be back... so I don't agree with this fix. A seasoned manifold should be machined flat again and re-installed.

That’s how it should be done, but FCA is the one who makes the call on that.

Hey Tach_tech, This is the sort of info I've been looking for! If I call the shop, and ask them about this, I'm assuming they'll be able to give me a quote? What Kind of timeframe is the vehicle down for while waiting on the machine shop? That's the part I've been looking into was finding a shop that could do it quickly while the trucks on a hoist getting broken bolts drilled out..

I’d just call around and see what they say. Machining of the manifold doesn’t take very long. Just depends on how busy the machine shop is wether they can have it back in time.

Hey guys

I have a 2015 Ram 1500 single cab with exhaust manifold leak,
truck has only 45000 miles on it and leak goes away after about ten minutes . So I took the truck to the local dealer. After talking to the service rep at the dealer all they are doing is the bolts the busted off the manifold and the manifold gasket. Ask the rep why aren't they changing out the manifold since that the reason they busted the bolts off the manifold. Rep said , no need to waste 700 to 800 dollars on it but its under warranty still.

Has anybody been threw something like this

Really disappointed in the Ram 1500 Right now .......

I understand feeling disappointed but what the advisor stated is true. The manifolds will seal right up with new bolts and gaskets. Let them fix it then drive it to see if this repair fixes the current problem.
And yeah request the manifolds get resurfaced

dstryr in Post 13 said, "Anyway, emissions is covered under the 100,000 mile warranty and an exhaust manifold leak is 'emissions' and they went with new."

Is this true? Is it a federal emissions warranty issue?

Here in Canuckastan manifolds are covered under powertrain, not emissions.

Bought a 2020 1500 Classic KNOWING the trucks have this issue but, I knew before signing the paperwork to purchase, that I would get ceramic coated shorties and a 2/4 lowering kit. Mine has 171 miles on it and it’s going in the shop Wednesday for the install. These are awesome engines but I can’t let it go KNOWING it’s coming. So, I’ll have the work done myself and , fingers crossed, never have to deal with this particular issue

I know this sucks but 1 option is buy the manifolds and have the dealer reinstall the new ones. At least you can get free labor.
and the new manifolds, will warp, same as the old ones. Its like putting a $500 band-aid on and waiting for it to fall off.....
