Any decent dyno tuner will also ride around in the pass seat to do the drivability side of the tune. If you can afford a blower, you should be able to also afford an AF/R gauge.Bite the bullet for the few bucks and a couple hours of work it takes to put an AF/R gauge in it. Both the AEM gauges i'm running tie into my HP tuning software and will data log right to my laptop or my tuners laptop.

Nice.

What kind of power are you putting down now?

Also - reply to this post to help you get to 50 lol

I’m still on a base tune. Waiting for my first revision. I would expect it to do over 500 being that I have full exhaust, a Hellcat TB, electric fan and the whipple CAI.

How are u going to tune it without air/fuel gauge and couple wot runs on a dyno.. Email tunes sound dangerous ..

I have a AEM A/F gauge in the truck and I’m making data logs and sending to hemifever for tuning.

You should be able to do 500whp pretty easy. Both me and my buddies truck put down 500whp + or - 5hp. Only other mods was the whipple CAI and cat back exhaust. This was also the middle of summer, about 30C and 3000ft elevation. Boost was 7.5-8psi.

I like the AEM's as they're pretty simple to install and wire up.Are you going to mount it or is that it's resting spot, lol.I have both the one in my truck and the one in the wifes Challenger mounted in the pillars.

I haven’t decided where I was going to put it yet. I kind of like it there.

Gotcha. I figured the headers with the bigger TB would help out the most.

You’ll lose some boost with the headers if they’re long tubes, but you’ll gain power from them as well. Depends what size pulley you have. I’d be interested to see how much the headers drop boost. I’ve heard it’s usually 1-2psi.

I will let you know. 3.750 pulley. I’m hoping the Hellcat TB gained some boost back. Usually if you help a PD blower breath on the intake said it will pull more air and create more boost as well.

My kit cam with a 3.5” pulley and does 7-8psi.

Did you ask for that size or is that just what came with it?

It's interesting they seem to keep sending out kits with bigger pulleys. Mine came with a 3.625.
I'm putting a 2.5 on with a 18% overdrive. I'll see how she'll chooch with that although I haven't found anything smaller so I guess It'll have to do.

Well if I’m safe running a 3.5 I’m ordering one. Is it a boost or power thing with the stock motor? Cause if it can handle 7-8 regardless of mods I will find out what it’s making now and pulley accordingly.

Edit:They just sent a 3.750 there wasn’t an option to choose.

Be careful. What gen do you have?
My gen 4 made 10psi with a 3.5 pulley.

I also dropped a valve at 10 psi. So...

Huh? Are you positive it's a gen 3?
The gen 4 has been out for about a year now.
Gen 5 will be out for our trucks late November.

Altitude is also going to play a part in how much boost you make. I’m at 3000ft above so maybe that’s why I got a slightly smaller pulley I dunno. Or maybe to many people were blowing em up with the 3.5” so they went to a smaller one.

You “should” be fine with a safe tune at the 8psi level but there’s always a chance lol.

Well I just went out and logged kpa. I’m not touching the pulley. It’s at 8.5psi at the shift in 45 degree weather and holds 8psi after the shift. What I noticed now is why does my throttle blade on showing 76%?

I forgot to subtract atmospheric pressure from that.

Edit:Apparently it takes atmospheric pressure into account so my boost conversion should actually be accurate. 160kpa is ~8.5psi

To calculate the boost without a boost gauge using your map sensor. Take the reading with key on, engine off. Then go do some fun stuff. Take the highest number and subtract it from reading with the engine off. So looks like you should be around 8.5psi. When it’s cold out I’ve seen mine get up to about 10psi.

As for the throttle, that’s just the way it is at max throttle. I don’t know if I’ve ever seen it read 100%. I just looked at a log for my truck, 85% was the highest. That’s desired throttle position as well. Actual throttle position on mine maxes at 76% as well.
