WOW IDLE HOURS Your right Batman LOL. So now when you dare to walk into a Dodge dealership they should give you a fact sheet indicating all this **** before making a decision to purchase. It don’t say anything about that in owners manual. How they get off telling someone that excuse.
2018 ram 2500 6.4 hemi 60711 miles something happened to the motor and valves got stuck and messed up the cam got my oil changed every time the light came on used Mobil one 0-40 synthetic they denied my warranty cost is 4,930.00 as of now but they denied it saying wrong oil was used and idle hours was too high and maintenance wasn’t done properly I bought this truck used with 25000 on it I’m very disappointed with Chrysler on this the dealership I took it too has had it for a month saying they was waiting on Chrysler to give yes or no for warranty when we got the answer no it had almost been there a month and the dealership did not have my back or fight for me at all I am very disappointed in how this was handled and how I’m being treated is there anything else I can do on this beside just get screwed
For all you owners who show loyalty to the dealer to get your work done, I can tell you as a Chrysler line tech for quite a few years in one of our largest dealerships, it literally does you no good. I've seen warranty denied for just about every stupid reason under the sun including oil changes that were done religiously at the dealer. The owners following every recommended service and in the end it did them no good. I'm a firm believer in lawyers now because I've seen so many good customers get the shaft.
Engine Oil Selection — 6.4L
For best performance and maximum protection under all
types of operating conditions, the manufacturer only recommends engine oils that are API Certified and meet the
requirements of FCA Material Standard MS-12633.
MOBIL 1 0W-40 100% SYNTHETIC SUITABLE FOR MS-12633 6.4L HEMI USE
It meets MS-12633 Specs. Is this the oil that you used? These engines are failing due to an engineering fault, not an oil issue because so many of them are failing under the exact conditions and products they call for. Factory oil changes from day one and failing. That's not an oil issue, thats another problem.
Get an oil sample and get it tested by Blackstone to see if you're oil was truly the cause? Was the oil worn out?...the oil lab test will let you know this. Also, call Mobil and ask them if the oil was appropriate for your vehicle? By law, you don't have to user MOPAR brand oil or all OEM parts for your vehicle to still be covered under warranty. The manufacturer HAS to prove that you caused the issue if they deny warranty.
The cam issue is a common issue. Get a lawyer...you're potentially covered by Federal law, called magnuson-moss act. You can try www.lemonlaw.com if they work in your state. Kimmel and Silverman lawyers have made a strong name for themselves suing the manufacturers.
Been using Mobil 1 since 1995 in every vehicle I have ever owned including my 17 Ram 5.7 Hemi. Every vehicle I have kept long term (200,000+ miles) never had a single issue with anything engine related. Just my 2 cents.
Not a Ram, but my wifes Pacifica. 2019 bought it new. 14k miles and I took it to get it washed killed it and then it wouldn't start. Service airbag and transmission lights came on. Little to know idle time. I called Chrysler care... Lady was super nice. Sent a tow truck out. I had already told them its a turn dial shifter and its sitting in a spot that it can only come out in reverse. I waited 2 hours for a tow truck to get there. I had to be on the other side of the metroplex and needed to leave. They send out the wrong tow truck. Called Chrysler care again. Our dealership is something like 3 miles outside of the tow radius. They say they are sending out the right tow truck this time. I have to leave it. So I call the dealership that it is supposed to go to. Service guy tells me we probably screwed something up in our bad ice/snow storm. They were supposedly seeing a lot of these type issues and most likely wouldn't be covered. I was like wait now buddy, this thing stayed in the garage the entire event. My ram was the only thing that left. I called Chrysler care back and complained that I didn't feel comfortable with them taking care of the van. She said there wasn't anything she could do. Still very nice to me and I was to her. I jump in my Charger to go on my road trip and I get a call back from Chrysler care. Its a supervisor. She was very nice and let me know that she had talked to the tow truck company and they were taking it free of charge to our preferred dealership. This is a Friday and Tuesday it was fixed free of charge. I would reach out to Chrysler care and explain it to them. I really hope this works out for you. My experience with Dodge/Chrysler over the past several years has been great.
If the story is true, the dealer is looking for any excuse to deny. And the mechanics know its not the oil itself that caused the failure. If an engine was designed so that a little difference in oil would cause it to "explode" you would have the biggest pos ever built to start with.Get real.If that was the case any additive or change in temp would grenade the engine.Granted, large differences in viscosity can affect vvt etc.But if anyone is ignorant of oil/ engines just use what the carmaker says and stop ocd'ing.lol
Why would anyone wait to change the oil until they get the light on the dash?
BTW, an oil analysis can tell alot, even the oil used (mobil1, Pennzoil etc) depends on the lab used... Since all oil is formulated differently, the analysis would show this. My Ex is a Chemist, used to work at Pennzoil, they would analyze and stress test competitors oil all the time.
How would oil analysis help in the OP's situation?
