My advice would be that if gas mileage is a concern, personally, I would not buy a Ram truck - period. Look for something else.
My 2021 has the etorque. I turn off the stop start routinely. I like the extra torque on quick acceleration. The truck is faster than my 2019 without etorque. Fuel mileage on both suck. On a 1,000 mile trip, all interstate, the 2021 got 19mpg averaging 75mph.
The 2019 was nearly identical.
My 2005 Hemi was getting 22 on same trip.
My 2021 etorque is a lease. I will have it for 3 years and will remain under warranty the entire time.
If I had bought the truck with the intention of keeping it many years like I did with my 14 year old 2005, I would absolutely not buy one with etorque. It makes no sense in any way shape or form.
Like with anything, it's all good until something goes wrong.
I would never be comfortable with trusting etorque out of warranty. Not me. Not ever.
