I had a 94 dodge 1500,with a 360 engine I used mostly Fram filters, had the truck 19 years,238,000, miles with no oil use, sold the truck and was used a a daily driver, I never had problems with Fram filters, used on many other vehicles also!

I am not much of a mechanic anymore but I can finish out a house and draw the plans.
I worked at 2 different Olds dealerships back in the 70’s but things were different then.
Since I’ve been a part of the Ram Forum I have learned that if you require information and details about oil, just listen to what Burla says. He knows what most don’t.

please post the said videos of bad fram xg2 so we can all see it. so far all the real data we have shows wix xp is a rock catcher. you are free to run what you want but everyone here is going to say run the xg2 its the best available at the moment!
Why the XG2 over the XG10575? Fram website shows the XG10575 being bigger than the XG2. The recommended filter is the XG10060 for the 5.7 Hemi.

I run the dual transdapt kit on mine, with upgraded -10 (5/8") hoses and fittings, but there's other kits available. I'm a firm believer in porting and rounding off any sharp corners and cleaning up any internal casting flash on any aftermarket set-up you settle on. I run the kit that uses the older style 3/4 - 16 thread pitch filters as you can get the filters in the middle of nowhere, but you can spec most kits to use the newer 22mm X 1.5 thread pitch filters if you want
I have a single remote filter set up from improved racing. I may follow wild one's lead and switch over to the 3/4 16 and use the old style filter if the 20 820 doesn't come back into production. Changing that filter threaded post is $6.90 plus shipping.

I've been running the XG10575 since my truck was new. Pretty sure I got the suggestions off this forum.

It's not bigger.

Surface area is the square of diameter.

If you want the actual surfaces, search for my results I posted.

What's your opinion on Royal Purples 30-8A Hemimann?

Don't know that one......go over to the Oil Filter Thread - I posted link to my original surface area calculations so you can see the relative differences in the media surface area between substitue oil filters, along with their dimensions.

I also posted the OEM size for reference point.

Techinically it would of been the filter you could of used on the earlier 5.7's that still used the older 3/4-16 thread pitch filters.Dodge used the 3/4-16 thread pitch till 2007 if i remember right, then switched to the 22mm-1.5 thread pitch filters

After searching for two days and not finding any RP filters, I bought two XG2 fram filters. Hope I don’t regret it.

I've been using the Fram XG10060 on my '15, just bought an XG2. Will admit I'm a little nervous, but will give it a try.

Wallyworld finally had some stock on them, the last few times I looked, they were always wiped out.

I’ve been as high at 10-11k on my 18 and Blackstone recommends 12k. All my reports look good too. But I don’t really
Tow anything even though I have the bed filled often.

My filter of choice is the purolator Boss. I usually get that and penn ultra syn or amsoil OE and I run all that for 10-12k.

I just installed the XG2 yesterday. It fits ok but it was a bit of a struggle. I’d filled it with oil but could not get it in without tipping it on its side….oil everywhere, but I’ll know for next time.
Based on what I’ve read here, I expected the oil pressure to increase a little. At hot idle it did go up from 24 psi to 26 psi. Cruising at 70 I see 48 psi which is what I saw with the smaller filter.
I’m using Royal Purple 5w20 which seems to be thinner than Valvoline. My son sees 50-52 psi on his ram but he uses pennzoil 5w20 semi synthetic from the dealer.
BTW, the XG2 has the “stuff” on the bottom of the can for gripping…works great even with oil all over it. Ha

Some comparisons between the RP 20-500 and the 20-820. I would run either or.
