I know man me too! But blackstone has said that I am less than half my oil life based on additives and chemicals in my oil. Still don't like it, that is why I want to change my oil right now!

Blackstone doesn't own Hemi engines. It's not about how much additive remains only. It's about contaminant levels sufficient to slow the lubricant flow to the under-lubricated roller lifter bearings and roller surface.

Get an RP 20-500 or Fram XG2 and be happy.

I ran the 20 500 for an oc. It worked well and had similar pressure

It's like 15% less surface area or some such (calculations way back up the thd), but way more than the stock 10-48.

not to mention that was the filter tested in that page 93 test, we still don't know what would be better the 20-820 or the 20-500. I think I'd find out in a hurry, order one see how the truck likes it, then maybe stock up if I was married to royal purple. It just turns out there aren't a lot of options as far as time tested trust.

Go with RP 20-500
It's just a little smaller than 20-820 but still bigger than stock. I use it.
I bought a few Rp20-500 to find out they were to small 2.764 dia.
I measured filter base gasket outside to outside dia.
On the RP 20-820 its 2.845 dia.
On the SRT filters its 2.845 dia
Question did FCA change the filter diameter for the 5th gen 5.7 because it looks like on the 2018 they can take the RP20-500 in the 5.7,6.4.
@G-Ride990 i can sent you a RP20-500

That doesn't matter, those just sit on a butt plate. You can use those.

Also good news for amazon users, 20-500 on sale 11.99.

? The analysis I did way back showed the 20-820 being too large, and the RP 20-500 more closely matched the MOPAR OEM filter, along with the RP substitute 10-48. I wrote a big long thread about this.

I'd find it difficult to believe they'd change a filter casting. Tooling is expensive. But they've done dumber things (like a thermostat housing in a transmission oil cooler line).

I would still prefer a 20-820, I just have to get by for now. I trust your opinion more than anyone, you know your stuff, what should I do? AMSoil? FRAM? Smaller RP?

20-500 or XG2 got it, I am sure they are both great filters.

I am just a creature of habit, the 20-820 has been good to me so I want to keep running it if I can. Hard to believe I can't find any.

20-500 rp would be my choice, or either of those 2, but not the small size rp or anything small.

Thanks, Burla didn't know that!!!
np, that is why most guys can run the smaller rp filter or the larger filter on the same butt plate. I'd bet the 20-500 and the 10-48 are close in dia w/o even looking it up.

Yeah get the second best 20-500 while you can. The XG2 would be next best after that. Am sure 20-500 will be selling out pretty fast now that the 20-820 isn't available anymore lol. Here we go again ugh.

The 10-48 is available on Amazon but it's $18.55, more expensive than the larger 20-820.

Bummer,

Will order a few of them, I only change my oil about once a year since I don't drive my truck much.

Thank you!

Still bummed the 20-820 is gone. What the heck is the deal with that?

FWIW I have used the RP 10-48 for coming up on 4 years now without any issues and with the Blackstone data to back up no issues.

Some will disagree with me, but I have always used Mobil1 0w20 oil with M1-133a oil filter. I have never had issues and valve "ticking" has all but been eliminated at idle. I use the Truck/SUV blend, designed for higher stress needs of a truck and i change the oil every 5000 miles. Doesn't matter if i did towing or not. No issues

Why would anyone disagree with you? It's your experience and it works for you. Until my ram and the hemi tick that followed, I was on m1 for well over a decade. For your interval it sounds like a perfect choice down to the filter. If you ever get warm idle tick, lets talk I know some things, if not rock that to 1/2 million miles.

I would see if wix has one in their racing line. A little less filtration but more flow (hemi tick anyone)

The clone amsoil yes Oil Filter - EAO11, if not 20-500 royal purple, or new stock fram ultra xg2. Ant of these are top shelf imo. I'd probably go rp 20-500 if I were out.
Stupid question. I’ve been using the 20-820 and RL 5W-30 thanks to the threads here (and Bob the oil guy). 20-500 sounds interesting, but doing a search on RPs site turns up the 10-48. The advantage to that one appears to be its in stock (including other places like Summit). I suppose this should work?
