He's got the oil pan off,and we still haven't seen any pics of the rod and main bearings. He might of got lucky and the crank is still in decent shape and maybe get away with a homebuilt re-build by installing new bearings if they're toast, but if he ran it out of oil and it was knocking by the time he shut it off,i think she's toast. But i'll bet from here on in,he'll remember to tighten the drain plug when he does an oil change, them teachers at the school of hard knocks are a b!-tch,but you usually don't forget what they've taught you,lol

Update. I changed my rod bearings, main bearings and thrust washers. Now it’s back running fine. Thanks to everyone who actually helped. All the other STUPID people can keep everything else.

You can keep it bro. You was the main one criticizing me about my questions instead of just trying to help a young man trying do things on his own.
At some point, young men learn that sugar gets better responses than spice. I guess you just haven't learned that yet.

Didn't you already get several answers to what it was on facebook. If i was to hazard a guess, after the lifter seized and broke, that piece probably popped out and fell through an oil drain back hole.Think several guys have told you the engine is done for,and i'm inclined to agree.Don't even attempt to do a cam and lifter job on it,just pull it and swap a new or used engine in place,as there's a good chance the main and rod bearings will be toast,as they'd get air first after the oil pan drained itself but the pump is still turning ,but is now pumping air.
This is what Woldone is saying he would do but , anyone else would actually inspect the engine and if needed disassemble and inspect further, is a balance between time and money you have the time that will save you money but if you don’t have the luxury of time then swap an engine.
Anyway you look at it its your experience you get to choose which you’d rather do.

I dislike posts that ridicule and boast knowledge just place those who are intolerant of social graces on your ignore list and you’ll save yourself lots of time reading post by those wanting to impress you.

Were the journals damaged at all? Rough? or did you polish them before replacing the bearings?

Still no guarantee, but without a teardown I would've done a couple quick oil changes with the cheapest oil and filter possible, along with cutting the filter open to see if there are other remnants left over.

Still a roll of the dice, hope it is a lasting fix.

Curious if your plastiguage measurements were in spec. Did you measure them dry or wet?

Did you have to go with any undersized bearings?

Hopefully you at least did the old drag a finger nail across the journals, and maybe plastigauged them also.Kid we've all been young, but one thing most of us learned was to listen to older guys, and take their advice, even if it comes with some ribbing. When you get all p!ssy, you become entertainment,so grow up ,and grow some ****,as the world is a hard place, and it's not going to mollycoddle you.

Used stock bearings the crank was fine
If you ran it out of oil long enough it hammered the bearings out,i highly doubt the crank was "fine" as you describe it.What or who told you the crank was fine, did you take any close up pics of the crank journals and the bearings,if you did post them up.

There was some discoloration but I figured this was just from heat. No real wear from what I saw, but I did clean them up

Where was the discoloration, were the rod journals blue, and your eyes aren't the greatest for checking a crank, use your finger nail, drag it across the journals,if it catches any ridges, the crank should be turned. How did you clean it up as your saying,as it's tough to polish a crank while it's in the engine.Hopefully it lasts for you.

If you need a shoulder to cry on,go see Mister Luck,as he's my biggest fan,and he'll hold your hand ,lol

You obviously have nothing better to do. I listen which is why I made the post crazy man. You the one trying to brag boast and laugh. What’s entertaining about trying to understand. You can’t make up your disappointments at others. I can guarantee I’m a lot smarter and do way more than you did at my age. Stay humble Mr

You don’t know how I was raised or what I’ve been through. Keep this thread about trucks and not what you don’t know about
