Anyone try Modifystreet headlights?

Update- Hikari Ultras are now aimed and theyre great, but the highs are too high. If ai can get the highs and lows to ignite at the same time with my highs on, itll be a great high beam.
AlfaOBD will allow you to do this. I have some LED in my high beams and HID in my lows. When the cutoff shield drops and the high beams come on, it is a flood of light.

EDIT: I should clarify that I'm no longer using the Alpharex lights. I do not think they have a bixenon aspect to the projectors (cutoff shield is stationary). I'm using TYC OEM replicas which have a reflector for the high beam and a cutoff shield that drops in the low beam as well.

Hi everyone!
I want to give a big thanks to @1500ram12 @big daddys house @Jimmy07 and others up front.

Got rid of my 2018 1500 for a leftover 19 Laramie 1500 5th gen so I didn't think I'd be going down the ModifyStreet headlight route but ...

My parents picked up a used 2014 1500 CC Lonestar and their first complaint was the quad headlights (it has almost everything else except heated/ cooled seats). So I mentioned the ModifyStreet (G1 style) headlights and some Hikari Ultras H7 since everything was on sale the other day on Amazon (vs the much worse ebay lights my step dad was looking at).

Everything came in yesterday and we installed today. I'm was hoping they wouldn't have any issues once AlfaOBD changes are made, ie my 2018 with factory projectors only needed the HID setting with Hikari Ultra bulbs. (I'm under the impression that 14 trucks are a bit sensitive to some of the headlight changes).

PARTS USED

They got this Alpharex/ModifyStreet version without the lower DRL/Switchback (Same as the G1's ) ...

$280 - Modifystreet Chrome For 09-18 Ram 1500/10-18 Ram 2500/3500 DRL/Signal LED Dual Projector Headlights
ASIN: B07VJJ55DD.

$54 x 2 sets (High & Low beam) - HIKARI Ultra H7 LED Bulbs Conversion Kit -, Low/High Prime LED 12000lm 6500K Cool White Foglight
ASIN: B07VSF45ZM.

ALFAOBD (& OBDLink MX BT) PROGRAMMING NOTES

2014 Ram 1500 Lonestar with factory quads. Settings that worked....

VEHICLE CONFIG 3:
>> High Intensity Discharge Headlamps = YES

CBC FEATURES:
>> LED Front Turn Lamps Present = YES

>> LED Front Park/Marker Lamps Present = YES
.

DRL relay box = Fuse F66
(May wire this up to the factory DRL BCM feed later)
.

----- Future LED Foglight bulb swap -----

CBC FEATURES:
>> LED Front Fog Lamps Present = (YES)

.

DIDN'T NEED the following for bulb out messages ... YET
(G2 switchback versions seem to have the turn signal/bulb out issues requiring extra Door Ajar/bulb monitoring changes)

CBC CONFIG I/O USAGE:
>> Front Driver Door Ajar Switch Signal Usage = (DISABLE)

>> Front Pass. Door Ajar Switch Signal Usage = (DISABLE)

>> Door Ajar Switch Signal Rear Left Usage = (DISABLE)

>> Door Ajar Switch Signal Rear Right Usage = (DISABLE)

-----------------------------------------

Not too shabby for $390.
Parents are very pleased with the upgrade!

I love the same headlights on my 2017, makes the truck look like your '19 (traitor!)

The only issue Ive had is when the headlights auto turn on with the turn signals engaged. But, mine are heavily modified Gen 1s, so it might have something to do with the LED strips I used to replace the ones that came with the lights. Jimmy does not have the issue, AFAIK, with the same exact configuration, so it might be a per-truck thing.

Just something to look out for...but yeah, these are great lights and really give the truck a much nicer front-end look AND much better lighting performance.

Well boys and girls I've found a good bulb for these lights. I drove my Mazda cx5 with leds and my pops tacoma with leds.

Mine blew them out of the water

Alpharex g1s
Aukee 20000lm h7 in my lows 6000k
Hakira ultras in my highs 6500

Pics below of low beam. Not a huge fan of the hakiras.... esp the 6500 color too blue.

That being said the biggest advice I can give is clock each bulb on their own to get the brightest output before putting them in fully.

Happy holidays guys

Has anyone used the oem style projector lights from modifystreet lately? I saw some posts from last year, but they don't seem to be a popular option.

I’m still running mine. Thinking of getting a set of black ones though I have notice they are not making as many of the OE styles anymore. Guess they aren’t selling as good as the other styles. I like modified Street brand better than TYC or the pricey OEM’s!! Just my opinion.

I have a chance to trade a guy my alpharex pro g2 for his modifystreet 18 style plus a set of oem quads in black. My thinking is I can get both sets, compare output and see which ones I like better.

I'm planning on picking up a set of the OEM style for my wife's truck after we get taxes next year.

I actually prefer the look of the oem projectors. The alpharex 19 style look cool, but I think in the end the older oem style just appeals to me more. I'm hoping the output is as good as the pictures I've seen.

Hey guys
Long time lurker of the forum. Just got the base model Alpharex 2019 style headlights and would like to open them up to tint the side marker. Is there any kind of tutorial that exists to open these specific headlights? I previously opened the factory duals so I have some experience. The thing I’m not sure of is what needs to come out of the headlights before they go in the oven.

Maybe @1500ram12 or @OnSale will chime in. I think one or both of them have opened more of these headlights than some on this forum change their underwear [emoji16]

They open the same way. A little easier because they don't use permaseal like oem headlights. Just remove the bulbs and back covers

Normally I open lights from the flat end that is vertical (inside part of housing) but with these AlphaRex lights I found it was easier to open them from the end that is slanted (outer part of the housing, that meets the fender on the vehicle). For some reason once you get a corner popped and grab the lens, it’s easier doing it from the opposite end. I have a video on opening them, I just need to finish filming a comparison video of them vs some other retrofits I have then I can post the video, it shows exactly how to open the AlphaRex lights. Not sure when I’ll get to film the comparison video though as it’s 30 degrees or colder every day now.

If you don’t want to tint them, I sell smoked and clear corners for these exact lights.
