Well I went to the dark side and reverse leveled the truck. I decided to change up the look alittle and here we are. I used maxtrac 2” greaseable shackles and removed the overload spring. Also installed Bilstein 5100 shocks in the back. I can definetly feel a difference in the ride height and smoothness, this thing rides like a Cadillac now!

if you only have the rear lowered thats just called a level lol, no reverse leveling haha, my truck looks lower after the shackles and leaf removal though, maybe its the 24s that give the illusion

Well normally most people say leveled they are meaning the fronts been raised. I said reversed leveled just so it’s clear I dropped the back haha

lol, down here we just say leveled, if you cant tell then we ask but usually its obvious, but do you have stock suspension up front, your truck seems way higher for stock with a leaf removed and drop shackles

Ill throw this out there, i didnt remove the overload, i removed the leaf above it, that way if i ever tow (extremely unlikely with this truck) it still has that strength

Around here 99% of the trucks are stock or lifted. I could almost count on one hand the number of actual lowered trucks I’ve seen. Mine is stock front suspension with torsion bars, the back wheel well measures 38.5, the front is about 38”

Hey I think your blue truck is awesome! It’s just not common to see them up here. I have seen one slammed powerjoke dually running around town here and there, it’s kinda cool

Drove the truck today. Noticed the dash piece closest to windshield had another big crack going to the defrost vent, so it flops when driving. Seriously pissed me the **** off.. so when I go to replace it should I be worried about the main dash cap piece? Thankfully that part hasn’t started cracking(knock on wood)

Thought about truck mods seriously for the first time in two months. Clicked over 115k the other day.

(semi relevant from here)

Also found a truck on offer up that I wanna trade for. Talked to the owner and it's basically the same truck (hemi, 05) with only ~60% (64k vs 115k) of the mileage and one dent on the fender (aka easily replaceable).

Only downsides are 3.55 gears and the dude would rather sell than trade, so he wants money ($1200) on top of my truck.

I also don't have solid confirmation of the title being free and clear, or a carfax. He says so, and we talked a while (seems like a good guy) but it's not in my hand plain as day, y'know?

It's a white scrb. Basically exactly what I want sans gears and money. Luckily, I'll be in his area tomorrow and might pop in to check it out. He claims it's driven politely and he's been taking care of the maintenance. Has all new front end (he said ball joints and an "a frame") and aftermarket heads, tails, and a kenwood radio with remote.

What do you guys think overall? I've got some money saved for my birthday, and COULD do this, but I could also mod my truck, or do what I originally intended to do with said savings and get a gaming pc to replace my 8 year old non gaming pc.

But, at the same time, I've been talking about single cabs since day 1 and want a fast truck that handles and yada yada, sooo.... Yeah. That's where I'm at.

I'm assuming it'll be unanimous that I might as well at least go check it out since I'll be around there, right?

If a reg cab is what you desire and you found one that has some small tasteful mods, lower miles, id jump all over that, the 3.55 is not a big deal, its one of those things that you will just have to try and if you dont like em change em one day, ive had 3.55s and its not some extreme difference, so dont dwell on little things that can be changed pretty easily

So you're saying if the title's clean, carfax is good, and I don't see or feel any mechanical issues during the test drive, it should be [emoji817] and a good idea?

Well I got what was coming to me for using a few stock parts in my transmission. I did a hard shift into 2nd gear on the way home and blew up the 2nd gear band strut. It was a stock piece of cast metal that’s known for breaking and it finally gave up. Not too big of a deal though. I’ll be sending my valvebody back to Cope Racing to have them fix an issue with the convertor lockup anyways. So while the trucks down for the week I plan on pulling the front end apart and changing out the tie rod ends and lower ball joints. I also think I’m gonna drop the front differential, change out the axle seals and do the front 4.56 swap. In a few weeks I’ll order a Detroit tru-trac and 4.56’s for the rear end

Dayum, what kind of nerve racking sounds did that make? Did you kinda know what happened or was that an unexpected surprise?

No weird sounds, it must have blown apart instantly on the shift so it didn’t go into 2nd. It took a minute to figure out what happened but I just drove home in 1,3 and 4th. That’s the perk of a manual valvebody. The piece was just sitting in the bottom of the pan
