Your dry weight is 5176lbs., your toy haulers Gross Vehicle Weight Rating is 9500lbs.

Hitch weight is 824lbs.

You are good if you don't load up to your max cargo capacity which 4324lbs. I would make sure your hitch is rated for your trailer. I don't know what you haul, but make sure you check your weight via CAT scales.

The hitch came with the trailer and the previous owner had no problems. I think I just need to dial in the hitch to my truck. I’ve been under the weather for a while so I have not been able to get back to it yet. Hopefully this weekend.
Thanks OC455

No worries, I think pretty much everyone here has been in your shoes and has asked the same questions. I bought my Ram because I wanted one for a while. Wife said, "Let's get a camper" Before I knew it, we had a 2015 Keystone Hideout 260LHS. I had the same questions and got good advice here and I enjoy confident towing without issues. My trailer's GVWR is 7600lbs. My Ram's max towing is 7990lbs. At most my trailer loaded weighed in at 5520lbs. It's dry weight is 5182lbs. I run without any water in the fresh water tanks. It took a few times to get my weight distribution hitch setup to where I wasn't bouncing around or felt like I was going to loose control.

I opt'd for XL tires (Nitto Terra Grappler G2, better sidewalls) on my truck because of the "squirm" feel I felt was there when I towed, and also bought Timber Grove ASAM's to eliminate some "porpoising" after I had the WDH hitch setup.

I have a Curt TruTrak hitch with anti-sway built in.

The Timber Grove ASAM's are piece of mind as well.

I have no problem with my 2500HD. I could pull my trailer and yours if I wanted to. My 6.4 helps to.

I’m happy with my Ram 1500, so I’m not even considering upgrading to a 2500. I dialed in my hitch a bit better but still have more sag than I like so I’m looking at the loadlifter 5000 air bag system with pump. I’m pretty sure that will be all I need to finish off setting up my truck to pull my rig safely.

If the loadlifter is an axle to frame setup like the Timbergrove ($350) you will like it a lot. The onboard compressor is nice if you have the coin to burn but not at all necessary. A cheap mini pump from Harbor Freight Wallmart etc you can put under your seat or any truck stop has free air when you fuel up. Since I tow every week I generally just set it about 15 psi and forget it. If I don't like the additional rake and firmer ride when unloaded I drop them to 5psi. When I pick up a heavy trailer its still fine until I get past a truck stop to adjust it to suit me.

Good deal man! Glad to hear your making some progress. I do think after the bags you'll be good to go. Today's half ton trucks are very capable and can tow heavy if you invest the time and research to set it up so the rig is safe and stable.

Fully loaded would be under 7k. Right now, maybe a 1,000 lbs with most of it sitting over the dual axles.
The trailer company tag mounted to the trailer indicates a dry weight of 3500 with a loaded max of 7000 lbs.

Well I did get the load lifter 5000 installed. I did not like the way it Road on the way home. The man at the shop said without a load I should run around five psi in the bags. After doing that two days I cannot imagine anyone riding around like that. I had a little bounce but if I hit a big buck it felt like what my motorcycle feels like when I bottom out because of too much weight on the back. I put 15 PSI in each bag just to try something different and that did the trick. My truck does not bounce all over the road and best of all it does not feel like I am bottoming out when I hit a big bump.
Now I need to choose a trailer brake module since I do not have factory trailer brakes. Can anyone recommend a decent trailer brake module that is easy to install?

I’m a bit confused guys, this is a hitch I have and I do not see how it can be hooked up any other way. So I really do not understand how I could dial it in to my truck? I am very new to pulling an RV or anything of this magnitude.

See those ********* square looking things that have teh hooks , on which you hook teh silver chains?

those move. you can slide them forwards or backwards, causing the chains, once hookd to lean away from the end of the bto which they arae attached or move back towards the bar or be perfectly 90 degree angle from teh end of the bar.

WHich link in the chain do use to hook up?
Just like removing links from a watch tightens things up, so to does it matter which link you use in the chain.

there are many others way to dial in tongue weight on a trailer, far too many to get into no, specially with someone who who has no experience.

I promise you, you DO know someone, who knows this stuff, like the back of their hands.
ask your friends and family and find that person. Have them over for steaks and beer and spend the day going over everything. TOns of crap to learn about how to trailer too.

Like most first time boaters soon realize, the learning curve is steep and buying the thing was the cheap, easy part.

You can dial the hitch in by tilting the hitch head back transferring more weight to the front of the truck. When purchasing the hitch new it usually comes with extra spacers and washers to accomplish this. And don't know if it was mentioned before but you are trying to set it up with the toys in it that you'll be hauling correct?

I'm planning on getting a set of Timbrens for my Ram, maybe an option for you?

Guys I got the hitch all dialed in and set and I still had a bit too much sag. I just installed a set of load lifter 5000 airbags, they do install between the top of the axle and a bottom of the frame. I have no trouble hauling my toy hauler at this point. I am however having trouble with the airbags when I am not hauling a load.
Every time I hit a big bump my truck feels like it’s bottoming out . Just at looking how the airbags are installed it seems there is not enough travel room for my axle anymore. Those bags are stuffed in there pretty tight. I am taking them back Friday because I believe one of the spacers should not be in there.
