Does anyone know the exact specs on the factory 2.5" headliner speakers? I want to know the watts and ohms for those speakers. I would prefer actual factory information and not guesses.

Thanks!

There are speakers in the headliner?

I'm pretty sure only the Alpine system has them.

Correct they normally come with the alpine system. Mine different because I purchased a new headliner with them installed.

Learn something new every day. I don't have Alpine, which explains my lack of knowledge of these speakers.

I would like same info, hard to find anything. All the door speakers and dash on the alpine system are 2ohm(actually around 2.3ohm) I assume the headliner ones are 2ohm also, but never know. Easy way to check is pull one and test using ohm meter. I tested my other speakers, haven't replaced the headliner ones yet.

Yes you’re probably right on the 2 Omhs and I can always check the wires I have plugged in to them as I reworked them for a near in the future non factory amp set up. But I have the wires hidden at the moment and was just hoping some of the people on here might actually have factory information about them. 3.5” wont fit in them and for what they are will probably be fine staying factory.

Do the speaker covers pop off, because I've tired and thought I was going to break them

Yes they do pop off. But clips that hold them are all metal and pretty stout. They didn’t want them falling on somebody’s head. So if you can for the very first removal, drop your headliner enough to squeeze the top part of the clips. You can use an extra long pair of needle nose pliers. You can get a pair at any auto parts store. The ones i use where curved at the end. After that unless you really pull the clips prongs back out, they will be easier to remove. Three are under little white covers but they are the same clips. You would be much better off and less likely to break them if you squeeze them first. Cause I’m not saying that isn’t a possibility to break them but technically you should be able to pull them out. It’s just a lot of pressure on the headliner to do it. Removing the c post and b post trim is easy. Then it will drop down enough to get to.

I replaced mine with these...
https://www.crutchfield.com/p_109CL750TM/JBL-Club-750T.html

They sound awesome but with the resistor packs they came with, they were kinda quiet so I removed the resistors. Now they sound louder. They’re a 3 ohm. Not really totally sure what ohm the factory ones are but these that I have were recommended by Crutchfield.

Here’s my custom brackets I made.

that's not a resistor pack that came with them, it's a capacitor, to cross over the signal and protect your speakers from low frequencies that will blow them

Hmm. Maybe I oughta just take them out then and put the stockers back up there. Those little JBL’s I bought are three ohm and more than likely the factory ones up there are just 2 ohm like the rest of the factory speakers. With that capacitor or whatever it is... this thing....

...you could barely hear them. Almost to the point of being 80 bucks wasted. You can hear them good now and at pretty high volumes they don’t crackle so I guess I’m doin alright. But if they blow, I’ll just put the regular ones back in.

The MOPAR original headliner speakers are 2 ohm.
