Hi Members,

I'm a newbie to the Ram 1500 club with my 2019 Classic but now let the mods begin. My question is what is the most affordable, tried and true bed covers out there that are actually worth the money? Thanks in advance.

I have a soft roll up cover on my truck. Super handy, doesnt eat up any of the cargo area and when i don't need it, it rolls up and secures out of the way by the back window. I'm not sure of the brand tho, I bought it from someone on Facebook for $100 new in the box.

Backflip mx4 for me. No complaints, it worked exceptionally well with the Ram boxes. I occasionally carry tools and felt the tri-folds would be harder to break into than the soft cover.
Also a 2019 Classic, love my truck!
Incidentally, had the Rhino line installed which really makes it super functional for me.

I have a 2019 Classic as well and I am leaning toward one of the hard cover flips.

I have a Truxedo Lo Pro and am happy with it. It rolls up and opens up the whole bed. I prefer the way it looks compared to the standard style that sit on top of the bed and look like they don't fit the truck.

The Truxedo Lo Pro is nice, but takes up width of bed at the top because it mounts to the side of the inner rail and protrudes out into the bed. I have found these have potential to leak more. And if anything hits them hard may bend it down causing more issues with being water proof. That's why the on top of the rail I feel is better

A few gerbils and a carrot
Within a week of buying my truck I installed a Tyger Auto 5.7 T1 Roll Up Truck Tonneau Cover (Amazon $150) - because I 'had' to have a cover and both of my neighbors have soft roll ups. As time went on and - I spend about 120 nights a year in a hotel, I started thinking about parking near lights, camera, open areas as theft
deterrent. I didn't want my tools and equipment stolen.

So I read a lot of forums post and looked at the manufacturers web sites. I bought the Peregon cover.

My only dislike - I don't like the separate key so much, but I am used to it. Not a deal breaker for me. For what I do it's a great cover. I haul something every 45 days (guess average) from a sofa, pile of 2x4s, yard waste; just homeowner stuff. They may not like this BUT I kept putting my cover in the cart and not clicking the final purchase and they offered slightly better incentives 3 times. The third incentive + 0% Affirm financing sealed the deal for me.

My neighbor has the Peragon and swears by it. Only issue he has is that sometimes things slide forward in the bed and he cannot collapse the top until he crawls in and moves the object out of the way. Have you had that problem?

So far no, but I tie everything down. I keep my tools behind my bed extender so they can't slide and I put up a bar when I put wife/kids suitcases in the back. But so far so good. Been very happy.

I imagine one day it will happen. I'll be in a suit and it will be raining.

if you live or travel in freezing weather area avoid the Backflip G2 like the plague. I'm on my 3rd cover under warranty and this one will do the same thing by the end of winter.

basically water get between the aluminum and foam take makes the panel and when it freeze it cause the panel to delaminate.

they told me the last time that it was the last cover they would send me.

I would also avoid anything under the truck hero brand

Hey Members,

I ended up buying the the exact pictured tri-fold cover from Oedro (Ram forum vendor). Paid $144 with free Fed-Ex shipping and it should arrive on Monday within 5 business days from New Jersey I believe. I will try to post some helpful comparison pics to see if my cover will fit flush on all corners of the bed. My concern is water leaks as well but the design to me looked stronger than a roll up soft cover and for under $150 new from a recommended vendor well that's it took for me to mod this bed for now. Thanks again for the feedback.

I had an Extang Trifecta Signature Series soft fold on my Nissan. I loved the look of the canvas. But the kids always wanted to sit on it and it let in a lot of dust. I put an Access rollup cover on my Ram. The rails were always working themselves loose. Plus, the rails take up room inside the bed. Def not a fan of the vinyl rollup variety. I bought a used Snugtop camper shell for $500. I really wanted to like it. It was useful but soooo ugly. Sold it this week and took delivery of an Extang Solid Fold 2.0 today. It fits perfectly. It's pretty heavy and the construction is awesome. I'm really impressed with initial quality. I've heard they leak a little. That's okay with me. It doesn't need to be 100% water tight. The only downside is the Solid Fold 2.0 was pretty spendy.

I have used a TonnoPro folding cover since 2012. You can read about it here: https://www.ramforum.com/threads/new-bed-cover-arrived.20044/

In short, I've been very happy with it. It's leak free and when it did develop issues the company stood behind their product with no questions asked. They sent me a completely new cover after I called them about repairing some stitching that had frayed/came loose after 6 years.
