Success with other cheaper and more available oils than RL really has me itching to try something different.

Has anyone here tried Rotella Gas Truck yet?

The ad pack is not anything that stands out but worth a try if it interest you.

Is redline working? With Nicks prices its hard to argue if its working.

I say worth a shot, if it doesn't work look at it like a flush, maybe an opportunity to try lubegard as well.

The question for me would be which oil, qsud or T&G? Or what others might be built to address hemi tick?

I wont be doing it personally, I think I'm five with my choice, but I support and wanna hear all tests out there.

Compute ppm of iron per 1,000 miles driven for each test. You will see little difference.

What are you talking about?? PPM/Mile is 124.5, 270.2, 194, 119.7, respectively. From min to max that is ~220% spread. The standard deviation is 61. Hardly a little difference, when the sample size is that small and that spread out.

I do.

See link in dog line.

Bro. I know you're not the GM, Subaru, Cummins, VW. Are you the GT Mustang??? Please explain why you feel this relates??

I switched from QSUD to RGT. I used Lubegard with both. However, I went from 10oz to 15oz when I switched from QSUD to RGT. I also used the opportunity to do a flush; used a Lubegard product and MMO for that. Initial impressions are the RGT seems a bit quieter than QSUD, but it could just be that the oil is brand new. I noticed a brief hot tick at idle in the past week or so. I haven't had any ticks at cold startups. Unless something changes in the next 4K - 5K miles, I'll likely stick with the Lubegard 15oz and RGT (5W20) for a while. For what it's worth, also using the RP filter.

Why iron went up? pup to RL still have hot idle tick

Switching oils is always a bit of a shock to wear trends on an engine. You need to give a new oil brand a few OCI before getting an accurate UOA with it.

This is with ANY oil you change to.

Went from FF to PUP until this last change. This report was RL 0w40 as was all the PUP. Both PUP and RL develop Hot tick after 3K miles. I cut open the last three RP 1048 filters don't see anything visible of magnetic. Still concerns me bolts seem ok. does seem like viscoty is better. I had to do an OC last weeK after this oci, and used the last PUP I had on hand.
Maybe go back to RL . Still under the Power train warranty only.

0W40 was not successful in my truck regardless of the brand even redline. A simple jump to redline 5w40 fixed it.

I was able to deduce his dog line is his sig. line... however, the link has been posted long before it was in his signature. We all know this information. Even I have better luck with PUP than RL in my truck. But spamming that link does not help anything. Nor does it answer any questions. "Anyone have a UOA of X,Y,Z?" YO check this link!!!111! IT doesnt relate but yo it's up UOA for a Mustang.

I found it interesting wasn't just about Mustangs. "We all know this information" ?
Maybe you do, but accusing me of spamming a link WTF.

@Burla or anyone of course, i have a curious question. I know there are many many , disagreements on many different topics on here, but i was thinking about one in particular.

Its going it sound like an MDS question, but more of an oil question. I'm wondering the people having same truck/year/engine with the complaint of "feeling" the MDS kick in, (that would be me also), vs the ones that swear they don't. I'm excluding if the newer trucks may have fixed the issue. I'm wondering instead of there being just people bickering back and forth about it, are they actually all correct. In other words there are trucks/people feeling it and others actually are not. Heres the question.

Is the oil type, more so the WEIGHT, the difference? Don't know if this warrants a poll, but maybe just some chiming in. Heres why i may think this. I swear when i bought my truck, i hardly noticed the MDS, and DEFINITELY didn't have the lag when wanting it to cut off. So is the thicker oil delaying, for milliseconds the kick out, not enough to hurt anything, not enough to ever cause a CEL. Just enough to notice.

I didn't know we were having mds drama, but one way to make sure you feel your mds or not is to shut it off and see if you still feel what you are feeling. I can imagine some guys feel their mds, but I don't feel mine at all. I'm not sure if an oil would help or not, or what oil would help or not, thick or thin I dunno. The mds appears to be up and down force, I don't see much side pressures. Hemi tick is different, no doubt side pressures and moly plate helps, I doubt it would help mds operation.

I can feel the MDS hanging on way too long, bogs the truck down :( But I think is has to do with the 8 speed.

The Chevy I could not feel the "mds" at all with the 4 speed (4L60e)

I had 3 Chevys with the 5.3/6L80e trans combo and I thought it was worse myself. My dad has a 2007 Chevy with the 5.3/4L60e but the AFM(MDS) has been disabled for many miles. It seemed to be pretty noticeable on it too. Perhaps because it made so much less power than the HEMI. At least with the HEMI I think we are fairly certain that the MDS is not the cause of the cam/lifter problems where it was definitely the cause with the 2007-2014 GM vehicles.

Bro, I quoted Dexter, then you quoted me talking about Dexter, and I responded about* Dexter. He spams that comment literally any time anyone asks about running X oil or a UOA. Come to think of it, I think he is the one @Burla blocked because of posting stupid (spam) comments...

I meant on another thread about turning the Mds. Were just talking back and forth casually and people wile jump on us for turning it off. Even using an abbreviated curse word.

Anyway i dont have this issue always turn mine off. Was just curiosity.

Thank you for the answer.
