My Falken Wildpeak AT3/W are probably the best AT tire I've ever owned and I've tried them all. Bought them when they were priced below the others but would buy again at any price.

I keep hearing the GY UltraTerrains are a good compromise between noise, wear, and looks. What really has me leaning towards them is the great rating they are getting for snow(I'm in MI so always important). Pricing is pretty middle of the pack to boot. While I loved my KO2s, and the are vastly superior to the originals in noise and even wear, I still wasnt happy with wet and snow traction on them.

My offroading needs are limited to dirt roads/ fire trails for biking/cabin access, so I'm not a hardcore needs traction user. My primary evaluations centers around(in this order): Weven wear/life, Wet/Snow Traction, road noise, price, offroad capability. Like everyone I also am considerate of the looks of the tire as well, but most have an aggressive look nowadays anyways.

I am on my first ever set of Coopers. I went with 35/12.50R20 ST/Maxx F rated and absolutely love them. I don’t think I’ll ever move away from Cooper. I rotate every 4000 miles with oil change, haul about 9K lbs every week, and the tires look brand new with just over 8K miles (not a lot I know) so I figure I’ll have no issues getting 45 to 50K out of them.

My understanding has been the ultra terrains are a duratrac with different/updated sidewall. They are exclusive to discount tire and are slightly quieter on the road. As per reviews on line and on here it appears winter based at ratings are 1. Duratrac (knowing up front weaker sidewall)
2. KO2 with as you stated some not liking the wet snow ability (have to ensure it wasn’t the heavy duty KO2 which losses its 3peak snow rating given harder compound for the 2500+ series folks in mind)

I have Mickey Thompson ATZP3's that are owned by Cooper and love them. I think you will do great with Coopers.

Just had the xlt put on my truck and so far I really like them. Really like the way the sidewall looks too. We will see how they do with time.

My ranking:

Falken Wildpeak
Nitto G2
Cooper AT3
Mastercraft Courser AXT

Falken has the best wet traction of any I listed and I got 60,000+ miles from both sets I ran. Got them for under $600, quiet, and snow rated.

Nitto was a really good tire also. Seemed expensive, quiet.

Cooper is good but they wear fast early on and then settle in a little.

MC - supposed to be the same tire as the Cooper but wet traction sucked compared to any of the above.

One thing that hasn't been mentioned: load rating. Some of the tires recommended here are not the heavy load rating version (ie C, D or E load rating). It would be good if everyone stated what load range/index tire they have, since that makes a HUGE difference in noise, durability, etc. We are talking about 4x4 tires here.

I'm specifically curious because I drive a Rebel, which comes with E rated (10 ply) stock, and the TPMS is set for that (and yes, I know I can change it with AlfaOBD).

I just recently added Cooper AT3 4S's on my truck. 275/60/20. They are quiet, but I can't speak for longevity. I was looking at the XLT verison too. I narrowed my picks (based on Tire Rack ratings & testing) to Cooper AT3, Continental TerrainContact, and Michelin Defenders.

For the price right now I had to choose the Cooper AT3's. They were on sale in my area and had a mail-in rebate too. My total cost with Road Hazard, Rotation, Tax, Tires and installation was $947. With the rebate...total out of pocket will be $877.

In my opinion, Ultraterrain belong right there with BFGs and Duratracs. Just a less aggressive looking than Duratracs. Good in snow and wet conditions. Well priced too.

The Falkens posted on sale at Walmart are "T rated"....not the heavy version. The Wildpeak tires I mentioned have a load rating of 125 which is 3638 lbs. An E load rating, so I don't know where you saw a T load rating.

I was wondering when someone was going to mention the ProComp series! Great tire at $279 per for 35x12.5x17. Same size for the Wild Peak is $317.
Patagonia MT's in 315/70/17 are $215. I'm considering making that switch.
