I would imagine the recent experience of auto manufacturers swapping things around due to parts shortages is having some impact. One reason I am advising some friends to hold on buying for a year or two. Also, don't want them to buy something that might have sat out in a parking lot for months waiting for chips and parts

How many have you received? Including the 2 I just got, I have a total of 3 on my 2022 2500 none that I worry about at this time...

Got a recall notification for my 2020 1500 yesterday. The first one I’ve seen. Tail gate can open uncommanded. The latch maybe mis-aligned resulting in an open tail gate when you don’t want it to. My tail gate is just fine, thank you very much. My next oil change I’ll have the dealer check it out……..

I have gotten all of the one's that you guys have, this last one said: The can result in transmission fluid being expelled from the dipstick tube, which may come in contact with ignition sources within the engine compartment and cause a fire without warning. Transmission Dipstick.

On my Gen4 3500, it had 14 recalls in the 8 years I owned it. Not all of them were much of anything, but several were major hardware replacements. We just getting started on these Gen5 trucks.

One my 2022 one for the tailgate, one for the over flowing tranny, and then one for a anti-lock module update.

I don't think they're much worse than other manufacturers right now. It seems that between 3-5 recalls is standard on any given model year. Examples below (I either own or have owned these, or they belong(ed) to a close friend):

Previous vehicles:

2012 Ram 2500 - 4 recalls
2016 Ram 3500 - 5 recalls
2014 Ford Expedition - 0 recalls
2019 Ford Expedition - 3 recalls (a 4th is now pending... and why we dumped it)

Current vehicles:

2018 Ram 1500 - 4 recalls (3 were the same as the two above).
2021 Nissan Armada - 1 recall
2013 Acura TL - 3 recalls

Friends:

2017 Chevy Tahoe - 3 recalls
2017 Jeep Wrangler - 4 recalls
2019 Audi Q7 - 4 recalls
2015 Toyota Sequoia - 3 recalls
2014 GMC Sierra - 8 recalls
2006 Ford Mustang GT - 6 recalls

Getting frustrated, bought my 2017 Ram 1500 eco diesel new. Currently 141,000 miles on it and the only issues I’ve had with it are the recalls. 1st EGR cooler went out which I had to replace with another defective EGR cooler since the updated one was not available. Went out again, but was able to get the recall completed and the updated cooler installed. After a long period Ram had the updated coolers. No more issues. Now there is a high pressure fuel pump recall, since June 2022. Guess what NO PARTS AVAILABLE FOR RECALL. New for this year June 2023 I believe, crank shaft position issues. Yet again, NO PARTS AVAILABLE FOR THE RECALL. My truck has developed a periodic stutter / misfire during uphills or acceleration. My mechanic and I have looked at the likely causes. Haven’t fixed it yet, but the crank shaft issue / recall could be causing it. So what do I do, I like the truck, great mpg (over 23 with having 141,000 miles on it).

But I only own 1 vehicle, so can’t let it sit for months possible year(s) waiting for Ram to find the parts.

The inability to get the parts to fix the recalls is what is turning me away from Ram trucks. Will a different manufacturer be better or worst, IDK but worst seems to be a long shot. Friends are trying to convince me to get a Toyota or Nissan.

id stick with ram or ford or gm, they have the most experience making trucks. Nissan and Toyota are expert golf cart builders but just Followers and copy cats when it comes to trucks

Just think of each notice, is a FREE fix that they caught before it broke on you
Yeah, once the part or parts become available. Let's see, my 2015 waited well over a year for a side airbag part, a year for a new emissions system, and about the same amount of waiting time to get its water pump recall completed. Now that the 2015 seems to be done with recalls, it is starting up with my 2022. The first recall is for the high-pressure fuel pump recall, of course, no parts are available.

FYI the 2022 has the CP 3 HPFP and not the CP-4 that is being replaced under recall....
