I am not sure either, I assume it some sort of childish teasing.

This thread has been nothing more than a friendly reminder or suggestion to check on a known issue with our trucks.

No idea why someone would get bent out of shape over it.
Me neither.I was actually a bit taken off guard over why anybody would think i'd done this as a malicious post.
Not much surprises me anymore, but the way he tried to twist this post around was a bit surprising

Pay attention to how it idles. It should be noticeably smoother without sputtering or missing.
That was my experience. I was astonished.
It does have me curious. I don't really notice anything bad about the way it behaves.

She is a 2WD, single exhaust, 3.21 standard diff. At times I think she is a bit of a dog, such as slight hesitation, and I sometimes get the 'bump' when taking my foot off the brake to accelerate after a stop. Usually thats my sign to treat the skinny pedal differently.

It doesn't really bother me, and I know that models like mine are the most 'economical' ones out there, and not as high performance as others.

Don't get me wrong, she has plenty of zip when I put my foot into it, and she has been very good to me. One of, if not the best vehicle I have ever owned.

Might have to pull her in the garage a bit sooner, getting more curious as I think on it. I do have 5 - 6K to go before my next service.

Well, being a lifelong motorhead, I notice subtle differences. It it ain't smooth as a baby's butt idling, it ain't right. It means the A/F isn't adjusted right for all 8 jugs. My MAP sensor was clean, plugs are still new, fuel is Top Tier, so there had to be an air leak. And there was - at the air intake manifold flange. An automotive engines, especially computer-controlled, isn't supposed to rough idle like a chainsaw engine.

Wife, she at least tells me when uncommon dash lights come on, as her car is in flames going down the road.

Welp, stumbled across this post and thought hmm. My 19 Classic RCSB being not so old I didn’t think I would find any of them to terribly loose. Wow. All are/were at least a full turn under torque. #8 (driver side front) was finger loose. I had not noticed anything running/feeling/sounding funny. Torqued them in order to the specs. Made sure to do it twice.
I have notice that it accelerates a lot better now. Haven’t notice any idling change’s but then I try not to idle to much.

2 weeks after we brought my wifes new Challenger home,i checked the intake bolts and they were loose.Makes me wonder if they aren't properly torqued right from word go

seems @grizzstang has already proven bolts are not backing off.......compression is cause of loose bolts
But i don't think 108-inch lbs is going to crack anything

If elastomer compression is the issue, there is an end point somewhere when the elastomer can no longer be compressed. Has anyone re-torqued enough times where they no longer are loose?

Again, this points to poor joint design. No one has to go in and re-torque cylinder heads, for example. The manifold seals and/or the manifold material are not sufficient to seal long-term. This from a retired design engineer.

Mopar lists them as follows
Bolt And CONED Washer Hex Head M6X1.00X81.00
If not grade 8 bolts or higher.......bolt could stretch......possible inferior bolts getting thrown into the mix.

I don't remember what bolts were marked from a year ago. I will do my annual @Wild one re-torque in a month or two. I have a torque chart posted in my shop. I'm so old I used to calculate by hand: T=cdF

105 in-lbs corresponds to 8.71 ft-lbs which corresponds to a Metric Class 8.8 strength bolt in M6 size.

Well, I finally got around to checking my bolts. My truck has been running fine and idling smooth but who knows, right?

So after going through the process of preparing about 20lbs of home-made cat food (spoiled little brats) and still feeling feisty, I went excavating in my garage for the required tools.
The horror.

Long story short all bolts/screws were really snug. I had a Click-type torque wrench from Harbor Freight. I trust that thing on lug nuts, or traveling salesmen, but not this. All but one felt like I was going to crush or damage something if I waited for the "click".

The one closest to the air filter would take about 3/4 turn before it felt like something was going to pop. I don't know if any are at 90 inch/lbs but they are all as tight as I was willing to go.

Of course I needed a step stool to get the rearmost, and like a noob I left the fob in my right front pocket, and hit the PANIC button while laying across the top of the engine.
And suddenly it's New Year's Eve! Lights! Horn! The whole deal.

I almost dropped my 10mm socket, quite a feat considering I was using a 5/16" socket, but that's my life experience wrenching.

Anyway, everything back together, truck started fine, and now I'm cursing myself for not having a new PCV valve on hand while under the hood.

Maybe next time.
