Well this happened on the roof of my truck... Looks like a scuff, not sure if it can be buffed out. And to be honest, I don't even remember scraping anything. First time of damage to any vehicle I've ever had and it's really upsetting. Anyone have a similar experience and a cost on an average paint job for something like this? Doubt that gonna buff out. You can always try and buff out also. Contact @Treburkulosis in this thread (Senior Citizen II), he has a Detailing Business. If just deep scratches, sand entire roof, prime and repaint etc, IMHO. But all I can tell you is not gonna be cheap.

When you run your nail across that does it drag your nail? That will determine if it can be worked with or not.

Hard to imagine it will be less than $1000 - 1500 based on my experience.

How old it the truck? How particular are you? It's on the roof, no one outside of the NBA can see it, you might consider a bit of sandpaper, primer, and cover it with a rattle can of the right color. It won't be perfect, but if it's out of sight, and protected from the weather, you might consider it good enough.

We get emotionally attached to our trucks, sometimes it just isn't worth it...

I'd try to buff it out and if that doesn't work, get some touch-up paint and do your best. As someone else said, it's on your roof and no one is going to see it.
