Yes... one more fob post although this is a bit different. I searched and didn't find this exact issue... although I didn't read the entirety of all 1,000,000,000 posts so I apologize if this has been covered.

Truck is just past 10 years old, first fob gave out pretty early... maybe after three years so the current one has been getting hammered on for 7ish years. At first I thought it was a range issue but it turns out it's time held down. It used to be pretty much instant but now I must hold the button (lock/unlock behave the same) for 2-3 seconds before it registers and responds The range is actually as good as it ever was. Of course, I've swapped batteries several times. In the end it's not a huge deal but got me wondering why it's doing this all of the sudden and if anyone has an idea if it means something is failing?

I bought new key fobs on Amazon and programmed them with AlphaOBD. That was, like, 4 years ago. They still work great.

I also experimented a little with programming some of the older keys, with the actual metal key part cut off, to use as a lower profile key. I think I posted about it here, back in 2019:

Probably the fob, but out of curiousity have you tried to 'reset' your tk's computer (modules) in a while, by unhooking the battery for an extended period of time (like overnight)?

Probably won't make a difference, but it doesn't cost anything to try. When you hook it back up, give it a few minutes to smooth out ...don't just hook up and race to work.

You can also take the fob apart, separate the silicone button cover from the circuit board and look at the silicone button cover from the back/inside. There are little “nubs” on the back of the button cover to aide in contacting the switches. The nubs wear off and the fob becomes difficult to use. You can find replacement button covers cheap on Amazon and eBay.
