    Replacing starter

I finally got it out. I upgraded to a mini sledge, and it came right out. I even earned a purple pointer finger when I banged it against the frame.

    Replacing starter

The replacement only has 2 bolt holes. I have tried PB blaster, a pry bar, and a dead blow hammer. I have not brought out the torch yet.

    Replacing starter

Hey all, Long time no post. I tried to tackle replacing my starter today, but I ran into some trouble. Every video I watched shows only two bolts in the rear to get it loose. Mine is not coming loose, but it does have a stud as well that isn’t shown in the videos. Does the stud need to come...

    Electrical Grelim Issue

I tore the head unit out and inspected the pins. All were good. Next, I checked wire by wire to make sure nothing became loose. I tripled checked my parking brake bypass thinking that caused the issue. All were good, so I buttoned it back up. Oddly enough, it hasn’t come back since. I’m keeping...

    Electrical Grelim Issue

I unplugged both headlights, but the gremlin is still present. At one point, the gear indicator even changed color with a new error message. The truck was in park, but it was reading as if it was in reverse. It caused my head unit to show the backup camera screen.

    Electrical Grelim Issue

I have the Tyco projectors with led bulbs. I’ve had this setup since last October though.

    Electrical Grelim Issue

Update: I had the battery, alternator, and starter tested. All came back as normal. All relays and fuses were firmly seated. Visual checks of the harnesses and grounding locations look good. It’s too hot to climb under and check them right now. I’m thinking more and more that it is a TIPM error...

    Electrical Grelim Issue

It’s too late now, but I am going to check the headlight relays in the morning. I sure hope it’s not the TIPM.

    Electrical Grelim Issue

That’s a good point. The CEL doesn’t stay lit up so I didn’t bother checking, but it does pull 8 codes. Four codes are for lost comms, but the other 4 codes are regarding my headlight bulbs. The odd thing is that as soon as I turn on my high beam, it shuts off. B1638 - Right Hi Beam Control...

    Electrical Grelim Issue

Hi all. My 2012 Ram 1500 has been acting weirdly over the last week. I’ll be driving along when I hear a chime, the service tire system error pops up, and then changes to the driver unbuckled error. All the while, several dash lights are on, my low beam turn on themselves, my wiper blades turn...

    Trailer Sway Control or WDH?

Hey guys, I am getting closer to buying my first travel trailer. I am staying on the smaller side between 3k and 4k pounds empty. A travel trailer group I am apart of says I might be able to get away with just the trailer sway control since the trailer won't be too heavy. What are your...

Newbie looking to buy a TT

Thanks, guys. I was planning to keep it at or below 6k, so it looks like I was on the right track.

Newbie looking to buy a TT

Hey guys, Up to this point, I have been hauling my RZR and ATV with a 20 foot flatbed trailer. I am now in the market for a travel trailer, and I could use some help in determining what weight I should stay under. I have a 2012 1500 4x4 with the 3.92 gears. I am trying to understand GVWR, GCWR...

    Did that require cutting?

Anyone with lift have air bags?

I am looking for air bags to help with sag when I tow. Would the Air Lift bags for stock height trucks work? I have a Zone 6" lift on my Ram. I have used Air Lift in the past, but it was on a stock height Ram.

    BDS/Fox 2.5 coilovers

Are these the dual collar design where you can adjust them while they are still on the truck? I have the 2.0 and hate that you need a press to adjust them.

Do Zone 6" lift kits use the same rear shocks?

Thanks. I had Fox on my last Ram. I hoping for an alternative to the run of the mill twin tube shocks. Do you know what site carries them? Google searches are returning zero hits.

Do Zone 6" lift kits use the same rear shocks?

Disregard. They are different size shocks. The preferred dimensions are below. They seem to only have twin tube style rear shocks. Collapsed: 16.55 Extended: 27.91

Do Zone 6" lift kits use the same rear shocks?

Does anyone know if the Zone 6" lift kits use the same rear shocks regardless of the 3" or 5" rear springs? One of my rear shocks is already blown, and I am looking to upgrade.

    Service 4WD Light

I'm actually in Utah where it has been raining and snowing. I hoped last night was a hiccup, but I will plug in the Superchips when I get home.

    Service 4WD Light

Hey all, I've had my truck for 3 years now, and after a trip to Colorado in very snowy/icy conditions, my service 4WD light is on for the first time last night. I presume my connector is wet. With this being my first 4WD truck, I am unsure of where to locate the connector to check. Any pointers...

    Oil Pressure - Cold Start

What is the normal oil pressure PSI on a cold start? My gauge has been showing 3/4 of the way to high, and the PSI is at 56. The outside temp is 52 degrees.

    Fox 2.0 Coil-overs adjustment??

Late response here but the 2.0 coilovers have a single collar design, so they have to be removed and compressed. I am in the same boat as I cannot find any rental tool to compress them. If you try the spanner wrench on the single collar without compressing them, it will destroy the threads.
