My current truck, 2014 express quad cab 5.7 4wd, is getting a little older (over 100K miles) and I've got the itch to trade. I have swapped the factory stereo for a kenwood unit with nav/gps apple/android, new door speakers and dash as well, installed the steering wheel mounted controls as well...
I'm looking at a 2019 ram 2500 that is the same color as my 2014 ram 1500 w/shorter cab and 6'4" bed. I'd love to be able to slide my topper off my bed and onto the new truck and save at least $3K on a new topper.
Does the newer 6'4" bed match the previous gen 6'4" bed? When I bought the topper...
We made it back from Moab with no issues at all. Ended up skipping Arkansas because of weather and drove through some nasty stuff in Colorado. Even slept in the bed of the truck with our camping pads and bags one night due to Rt70 being closed.
No issues with thieves or mechanicals the whole trip.
I'm doing a similar trip but from West Virginia to Arkansas and then to Moab and back. I bought my own trailer 2 days ago because of the fear of having a loaner stolen.
Some one mentioned welding the ball to the hitch, good idea, I hadn't thought of that.
I planned on locking the wheels of...
Took my 2014 1500 in yesterday to have them give me an assesment on a trade. They came back $3K below book and still want high book for their PW. Guess I'll keep driving the 1500 for a while.
Gas prices day to day don't bother me too much as my commute to work is only 8 miles. But if I am truely going to use this truck to travel often, I'm thinking 6 trips a year around 500 miles, it may be painful. But airline tickets are going to increase as well.
Just so happens a local dealer has a 2018 with about 50K on the clock for around $50K. I was able to take it for a drive. It has a few issues, locker lights flashing is the big one, and it's missing remote start.
It is definitely a different ride than my 2014 1500 but by no means is it...
The older I get the more I want to see the country. I live in WV and own an '03 TJ and a '14 1500 quad cab ram. I'm intersedted in possibly buying a PW to turn into something I can drive from WV to Nevada, then from Maine to Michigan and everywhere in between. My wife and I have taken a few...
Your mileage probably didn't change but some one didn't reset the computer with the previous tires. Or they did reset it and went the wrong direction giving you a false MPG.
I installed an after market set of 6x9's and head unit in my 2014 ram. After a year or so I'm starting to get some vibration and rattling from my doors and certain pieces of trim in that area. What is the best way to go about finding/fixing the issue? Should I just dynomat the inside of the...
Is it worth buying tires specific to towing?
We used to tow our 4700# hybrid camper with my wifes' Jeep grand Cherokee with he 5.7. When it needed tires I bought the cooper H/T plus that has a higher tow rating thinking that may help with a bit of the sway while on the high way at 60+ mph. Her...
Since putting in my new head unit I've wanted to make a small box to fit in the passangers side well under the rear seat. I'll be using a 10" sub that I've had for years and in several cars. I want to keep the box low and put a grill over the speaker in case I flip the seat up and need to lay...
Finally installed a nice kenwood head unit and some new 6x9's a few weeks ago. I bought everything crutchfield recommended. From the head unit install kit to the adapter for the USB port in the upper console.
My truck came with the lowest level head unit with no blue tooth or hands free. It...
I finally bought my head unit and back up cam for my 2014 express. I'd like to put my Crux CUB-1 back up cam in the factory location in the tailgate handle. Since mine didn't come with a cam I'll be running the cable clear from the tailgate to the back of the new head unit.
Is there any better...
Is there any good product to remove baked in brake dust from my front and rear calipers? I tried with simple green, brass brushes and elbow grease but still baked on.
I hate the idea of cheating and just painting over it. The factory silver was quite nice at some point.
Awesome, thanks guys. I've had a few college lever brake courses and fluid is highly overlooked. Especially when brake pad replacement is happening. But I wasn't sure about the level of heat tolerance these stock brakes have.
I'll look at the EBC pads .
The trailer brakes are really nice with...
We plan on towing our 4700# hybrid camper with the ram and I had some braking questions. On our first trip the truck did really well. Way better than our '13 grand Cherokee (also with the 5.7).
But I'm wondering about the brakes. I'm getting a lot of dust with whatever pads the dealership put...
I'm trying to find a part number or even a name for the little clips that hold wire loom in the factory punched holes. I had to pull my tailgate loom off to remove the tailgate and broke the holder that keeps the loom from failing down.
Now every time I ope/close the tailgate the wire harness...
