Hey how's it going. I have a 09 ram with a 5.7l hemi and a few days ago she started acting really weird. When I floor it between about 3000- 4500 rpm she loses a lot of power. By a lot I mean normally, she'll do about 8.65 seconds 0-60, now she sometimes does a bit over 9 and even a few 10s. The variations don't have to do with tire spin by the way. At least not by that much and you can feel it stop pulling so hard especially at that specific rpm range. I changed the air filter and it didn't fix it.
Any ideas? By the way every once in a while she pulls like normal and then a few pulls later the problem is back. There are no engine codes or anything. Everything on this truck as far as I know is stock.
Thanks

I'd start with dumping a couple of bottles of "Heat" into the tank, because if you got a bad batch of fuel with a little water in it, it will act similar to that. If that doesn't help, then a simple tune up with new plugs, inspect the wires for arcing. Also, while the plugs are out, a quick check of compression to make sure all's good. How many miles on the engine? Also, although fun as hell, pulling 0-60's all the time isn't the best for an engine... :devilfinger: Another possible culprit is that your catalytic converter is getting plugged up, although I would think that would always be an issue and you wouldn't get that "once in a while" normal pull, but who knows. Good luck and please let us know what you find so it helps the next guy.

No wires on an 09, but the coils could be going bad slowly? Definitely check the plugs though. Not sure Heet will do much good, with the alcohol added to fuel these days, it soaks up most of the water, But some Techron or better yet Seafoam wouldn't be a bad idea.

Those are the easy things to look at. Since it's an 09, the usual maintenance wouldn't hurt - trans filters and fluid, rear end...

Thanks guys, gonna check the plugs probably tomorrow. The engine has 170000 km on it and I just changed the transmission fluid and filter since I had to replace the transmission solenoids. Gonna let you know what I find! Thanks again

Get some amsoil Pi fuel additive.

Or some sort of fuel injector cleaner.

Seriously-this can really improve things if you've never done it.

Hey, sorry, I sorta forgot to update on this but I replaced all 16 plugs and she seems to be doing better then before. I normally get around 8.4 sec 0-60. The only problem that I have is that the check engine light came on right after I replaced them. Its throwing a code for the intake air temperature sensor.
But cleaning the injectors might not be a bad idea.

Just curious, what is the normal 0-60 time for a 4 door ram 4x2 with the 5 speed transmission?
Or am I the only one that cant control myself.

I have no idea, I never time it myself. What plugs did you use? The first few years of the 4th Gens don't seem to do well with anything but the original copper plugs. What code is ti throwing?

I used champion copper cores.

I scanned the computer and it just said it was the intake temperature sensor. I cleared it yesterday and as far as I know it hasn't come back on.
