I would like to install a 1000 watt inverter to the alternator and run the cable into the bed. Has anyone done this? Any risk to the alternator? Is the alternator thermally protected? Thanks.

Thanks…..do you know if the inverter will draw power if the engine is off? I would like the inverter to stop if the car is off because I’m connecting a lithium all-in-one battery unit to it (Bluetti 200P) and don’t want it drawing power if the truck is not running.
That would depend on the inverter but more than likely bit won't. You will need to wire in a relay or solenoid to turn the power off going to the inverter. Depending on the efficiency of the inverter it will draw in the neighborhood of 100 amps at full load from the battery so be sure the wiring, relays and solenoid are sized correctly.do you know if the inverter will draw power if the engine is off?
