so my truck has the “awesome” fob/key system. I am assuming the PO had a heavy key set due to the ignition being EXTREMELY worn. It is to the point that you have to wiggle the key to find the “right spot” for it to start and then pray it stays running when you release the key. On top of that while running down the road if you hit a decent bump the truck completely shuts off. We bandaided this by removing all keys off the ring while in the truck but it is now getting to the point that no longer helps. I believe it is the ignition itself because it does not matter if it’s my key or my wife’s it is the same symptoms. So here is the question is there an efficient way to switch to push button start or do I order all new ignition and keys pay around 1000 to get it all back to the way it was new?

All you gotta do is have your local dealership replace the switch and program all known keys to the new one

They want 500 for the part 240 to replace and 125 per key to reprogram

I can change the part in literally 5 minutes pulled the panel for the sub install but to be sure should I get new keys just to be sure

you can swap it, but you cant get it programmed without the dealer computer. therefore your truck will be dead until the dealer programs it.

Mine is starting to do the same thing... I think I remember a while back running across an eBay vendor selling the switch assembly plus two FOBs for a few hundred bucks... I don't remember the programming issues though...
