I have a 2012 1500 both 12v sockets aren’t working. The driver side which turns on with ignition in the run position it’s getting 10.8 volts and 12.8 with the engine running. If I plug a charger into it it’ll turn the light on the charger on put won’t do any more. I’ve tried multiple plug ins all the same result. The passenger side which is power straight to the battery. It stays at 14.3 same as battery. But if I plug charger into the light on the charger won’t turn on at all. I’ve tested the connectors for them behind the dash and the same readings. The fuse under the hood for both are good could they’re be a fuse I’m missing. Should I just replace both sockets?

You said that you've tried different chargers with the same results in both power points? Did you use the same charger cable? Or charge the same phone? It's unlikely that both power points have the same problem at the same time, possible but unlikely. A short on a DC circuit has a potential to bring the power down to zero when introduced to the circuit. An example world be plugging in a bad charging cord to a working charger. It would take the working charger down to zero output giving the impression of a bad charger or power port. It may not blow the fuse either. I hope this aids in troubleshooting and I hope I was clear in explaining it.

Yeah I’ve tried different chargers different cords and different phones all with the same result. I’m completely stumped to why.

If you have power at the connector on the vehicles harness side behind the socket then I'd suspect the socket is bad or the device's you're plugging into it is bad

I do have power behind the socket but I’m also getting power reading for the socket it’s self. I plan on replacing both to see if that’s the issue

Check the ground(s), when it's not making good connection it can cause funny stuff like that to happen.

If you are getting those voltage readings right at the socket than it obviously can't be a bad fuse some place. As mentioned above make sure to check the ground side going into the socket also (assuming when checking the voltage you are picking up a ground someplace else?). If you are getting those voltage readings by touching the positive and negative wires going into the socket than it has to be the socket itself.

If you have voltage at the sockets check to see if the springs are bent back and not making good contact.

I wonder if those run through TIPM somehow when you run demand through it it fails. Have you test the charger volts when you add demand to it?

Have you ever plugged in anything that threw fuse, that was over that fuses amp rating?

Odd thing is only the driver side I’m getting a lower reading

Get a Multi Meter and check the voltage at the connectors to the Hot and Ground outlet wires ,
Then test the 12v. wire to a body ground to see if you get the same readings !
You can also run a temporary body ground from you outlet , and try your charger to see if it works!
Hope I makle sense, I suck at explaining thing lol
