If this does not excite you then sorry but you are probably dead inside. I have asked for this for years and finally it will be here.

Right? I ran around the office telling everyone the good news and I just got a bunch of weird stares...

Oh ok sorry for the misunderstanding, but the 240 hp still doesn't sound appealing to me. Wish the numbers were a little better

Well, the cummins in my 97 3500 was only rated 215 HP, and it was more than enough to move an 8000 lb truck around quite quickly

and it only had 30 more ft lbs of torque @ 450

so, cut the weight down by 30-40%, and I'd say it will move right smartly.

I don't doubt it but I have compensation syndrome lol but if I can get higher numbers that's what I'm goin for. I'll definitely look into a 1/2 ton diesel for my next truck bc it does sound appealing

Bet the Cummins would have smashed the front suspension on a 1500 series :D

This is either #3 or #4 diesel thread for this. I believe a couple were merged already... lol

It obviously wouldn't be 1100lbs like the 6.7 Cummins , they make a 3.0l diesel v6 that has pretty similar specs as the motor being used

See a lot of hp talk and talks of them still being enough to tow but I'm curious about the 0-60 and quarter mile numbers stock. This sounds cool and I think its a good move for the environment and all sorts of other bs but I don't know that I'd be in the market for a diesel unless it was showing similar 0 -60 and quarter mile numbers as the other engine options, especially if its going to cost a handful of thousand more and (at least around me) cost of diesel is a good 30-50 cents more a gallon. Would just take a real long time to recoop that extra cost of the engine based on fuel economy savings.

I was hoping for a good MPG in a 1/2 ton. Don't like Ford, but was looking at the ecoboost.
Now I just hope the EcoDiesel will not be too pricey and that it will be available in a nice edition (Longhorn).
I would get the current V6 if I could get it with heated + cooled seats, etc...

You can get it with heated seats... not sure what other options you are looking for but the slt v6 comes with most of them.

Ram site is tricky with options. They only let you add certain things. Your stuck with one engine, depending on which model you choose. Also read somewhere that the EcoDiesel will be around $1500 extra...well worth it for the longevity, economy, and the choice of more than one fuel in the future.

dodge ram 1500 new engine diesel

hello boys
in an Italian magazine of car came out this article, which speaks to produce dodge ram 1500 with a diesel engine of the Italian company vm (ferrara italy) the same engine in Europe is mounted on the grand cherokee.
I report the article, however, is in Italian Diesel italiano per il pick-up RAM | alVolante
translated version Google Traduttore
so I ask you what you think of a ram 1500 diesel?
opinions ???
hello

I asked my local Dodge dealer what they heard about this and the salesmen told me it isn't happening because they would have heard about it by now. Lol. I'm gonna try and find the Chrysler announcement on Facebook and show it to them.

Then they tried to tell me that the diesel that's going in the Grand Cherokee is made by Fiat. :whymewhyme: I told em they shouldn't try and sell cars if they don't know what they're talking about. :idiot: When I was looking at buying my Express, I went in and told them I wanted one and they said they'd never heard of it. And they had FOUR of them sitting on their lot...:wtf:

Ok, I'm done ranting now. :D I'm really excited to drive one of these diesel 1500's.
