Jut checking to see if anyone knows whats the max. size spare I can mount under the bed? I run 35's and want to get a spare the closest in size I can get. Currently its the factory spare. Too small.

I know for 100% certainty that a 275/65R20 will fit, as I have one as my spare. It is roughly a 34" tire.

I've heard if you have someone help raise it while you're under there you can finagle a 35 spare. I haven't done it personally but it's worth a shot!

I was unable to fit my 35" spare. It hit the hitch and panhard bar. If you don't have a hitch you might be able to make it fit but not 100%

what kind of rim? I have tried to find a 20 inch rim that will fit the spare tire carrier for my 2017 Larmaie

I have a 35 MT under mine. You do have to jam it up against the tow package but fits just fine. Its been under there a couple of years and no issues.

Old thread, but good to know. I put 275/65R20's (34 1 inches) on mine with my 2 inch level right after Christmas. I tow a 33 ft camper so I prefer 10 ply tires and also nice having that extra sidewall protection to prevent punctures. I ended up putting on Mastercraft Courser Trail HD 275/65R20 tires, but my spare I believe is a 17 inch donut which obviously won't work if I am towing. I found a cheap 10 ply tire on Amazon with good reviews and looks similar to my tires and a steel 20 inch rim. I would prefer having something that if I had a blowout or other bad damage that I could continue towing. On a side note the new Mastercraft tires have been great in the snow here in PA. I had Cooper Discoverer AT3 XLTs 27560r20 (stock) for thebkast 4+ years and they were great, but are being phased out. Mastercraft is made by Cooper which is owned by Goodyear. I've been turning off traction control and leaving in 2 wheel drive and having no issues. The day of the storm didn't have it out since I was removing snow and driving a company F150 truck for snow removal, but I would've used 4x4. Think I'm going to head over to Amazon app and buy the tire and rim and will get it mounted when I go in for my oil change which is coming up shortly. Decided not to worry about tpms sensor for my spare since I'll only have it on till I can get a new tire same as the others. I'm pretty certain the donut spare doesn't have a tpms installed.

I’m disappointed that my brand-new ‘24 Ram 2500 with 20” wheels/tires and CLAIMED “Full Size Spare”….. ACTUALLY has an 18” spare. Grrrrr…

I honestly didn't even climb under mine to check the actual size. I had it down before when working underneath to install airbags. I do know mine isn't a full size tire which I want for towing. Sad as expensive as trucks are that they can't just put the full size spare the same size as what you have installed under there. My spare is about 9 years old now if it was made in the same year as my truck (doubtful) so not sure I'd trust it even if not towing.

I shared your disappointment. I had the same thing with the 2020 Laramie I used to own. 20” wheels but the full size spare had an 18” wheel. I noticed it when I took delivery and was told full size spare doesn’t mean it matches your 20” wheels, just that it’s not a space saving or temporary spare tire. The outer diameter of the spare will match the outer diameter of your other tires, but won’t necessarily use the same size rim.

At least it's not a donut. Spare rim sizes vary even across same model years. Guess it was whatever they felt like that day.

Do a search on spare tire size and you will come up with plenty of information, and info on the "full size" 18" spare.
