Looking for some opinions or advice on a catch can for a 2008+ 4.7. I read through the other thread regarding 4.7 catch cans, but the set up is a little different on a 2008.

The tube that runs from the PCV to the intake is this part #: 53032856AB. I took it off and both sides look the exact same, with similar size nipples (PCV valve and intake) on either size of the hose. Attached is a screenshot of the part. PCV valve is part # 53032855AA.

Here are my thoughts: Is this hose necessary, or can I simply remove it, find a rubber hose that I can slide over the PCV valve to the catch can, then catch can to the intake with a similar rubber hose - and just lightly clamp it down on the ends to not warp or break the pcv valve/nipple on intake?

Just want to make sure I'm not overlooking some sort of function that this tube does that a typical rubber hose wouldn't also accomplish.

Thanks for all advice or opinions y'all can provide!

Those are similar to the connections on my car. The hard plastic hose can be cut at the fitting barbs and rubber hose clamped onto the fittings. That's required on a few supercharged setups for re-configuring vacuum and pcv connections. Just cut carefully and you'll be good to go.

I did think about cutting them and doing it that way, however I was trying to install it in a way that it can be reversed if necessary.

I guess the hard plastic hose is cheap enough to replace it if I do cut it and ever want to reverse it. Or using a rubber hose from pcv to intake again clamped onto the fittings would work too.
