Well the hardest part of the install was transporting the bumper back and forth to powder coater's and the removal of the old bumper. Got two scraped up knuckles on the middle fingers and one busted nail, but none of that was on the install which went really smooth (with exception to fog lights).

First and foremost, suspending the bumper from the ceiling is the absolute way to go and I literally drove the truck right to the bracket and the bolts went right in with zero issues.

Pro's of the Fab 4's Bumper

* One of the few available for the 1500
* Heavy Duty
* Fits like glove with just enough room to not mess up fenders
* Improves Clearance from stock

Cons

* No optional wiring harness for fog lights, really ****** me off!! Why doesn't anybody care enough to make a harness that plugs into factory fog lights??

Tips, you need two buddies one on each side when fitting the bumper. Use sockets because it is a little tight under there. Levels actually work when you use them! Having a wife around to be in the way and constantly be in your business is optional, but not necessarily recommended.

Final thoughts are I like the bumper and feel like this should be a factory option. I'm sure many guys would be paying an extra grand or two to get these from the factory. I can't believe how close Miller Powder Coating got the color match, they did a great job.

The truck drives the same, you cannot tell at all their is a different bumper on the truck from behind the wheel.

Cost-
The Bumper was bare metal and was under 2k shipped to door.
The powder Coating was $450 because I opted fro primer, base coat, clear coat.
And I assume it will be another $500 for Les Shuab to hook up the lights and put a level kit on.

Total out the door installed was 3 grand if you include the beer and tri tip I used as bait to catch a couple friends this Sunday afternoon. I am going to have to save up to get the winch and tire upgrade. Next upgrade will be the diamond back tonneu cover. Questions?

Looks AWESOME! I think you need to trim your fender liners to sit flat with the bottom of the bumper.

Back to it looking AWESOME... man, I love the way this looks!

Yeah I was going to do that but I'm a little smoked today. They'll be trimmed up tomorrow. Thanks for the compliment, I do like the look of it too.

Great write up. I personally didn't install mine bc I have a bl and was afraid that it would mess something up w/o fabricated support but I love mine

That looks awesome for sure. I'm right with you on the factory fog option, I wish somebody would offer that too on an aftermarket bumper.

It is still wearing the film from the first winter storm of the season on our Reno trip. I got tired of driving through snow and driving through my review on how many fools don't know how to stay away from my rear, so I put a super bumper back there for the rear. Going to get some smaller rims with a better 4x4 tire when I get around to it, and in a week or so get a level kit and the lights installed. I'm not sure why dodge puts the street rims and tires on a 4x4, but hey nobody puts effort into doing things the right way anymore anyway.

Put a different size up but didn't want to mess up forum page. For large pic click http://www.flickr.com/photos/90804557@N00/8359018330/sizes/l/in/photostream/

Before shot- got a chrome bumper for sale, or is that stainless?

Looks good! I'd recommend you look into putting some clear bra material on the leading edges of it though. With it being up front and being flat, it'll get beat up pretty quickly.

I like it! I normally don't like those bumpers, but that's sharp. They did a good job matching the paint.

Its a nice modification.

But boy is that bumper a beast! I would not want to be riding around in some little rice burner and see that closing on my back side in the mirror.

Definitely needs the winch though--looks incomplete without it.

Smart move with the beer and tri-tip as bait for helpers--as long as you kept them to Coors light or other ****-water until the detail work was done. Wouldn't want them pulling a 'Tickle' and falling down on the job.:drink_nl:

Note: Tickle is the drunken still hand on Moonshiners
