Had this happen last winter, for me it was the 4 wheel drive actuator. Very easy to replace, 4 bolts and an electrical plug on the front differential.
You will also need to replace the fuse most likely, at least for me it the actuator motor would pop the fuse when it would fail to switch to 4wd.

What you can do to check it before you buy a new one is remove the old one and see if you can easily move the fork through the full range of motion. If you feel resistance anywhere, that means it's bad

I guess I should mention that it is a tight squeeze to remove between the differential and the steering rack. People say you have to move the rack which would make it easier, but if you mess around with it, you can fit it in and out without having to do that.

Are you moving slowly while the 4WD is trying to engage?
Tried that as well my front axel is in gaging as it’s locking in but nothing is happening at the front diff it’s self

Hey thanks for the info as my axel from my transfer case is locking in but just nothing happens at the fron diff so I was thinking the actuator but was not sure how it works
