So I'm doing the headliner teardown to put in my new Recon can lights. They said they install to the factory wiring harness which I cannot find. Granted, I'm putting these on a 1500 so I'm not sure if the harness is even in here. Anyone out there install cab lights on a 1500 and wire them up properly??

The first pic is of my wiring exposed and the second shows what the instructions tell me to find.

Here is an update on the project:

I could not locate the harness probably because this is not a 2500/3500. So, I wired them into my turn signal power wiring to test them before drilling and such. Plugged everything in and no luck with power. The lights would not light up at all.

Now I only tired one cab light at a time. I tired two different lights in all sockets and even rotated the wires around (red to brown then red to yellow) and still no luck. Any thoughts??

I want them to turn on with the parking lights from the stock switch. I'm thinking I may have tried to wire them into the wrong wire of my parking lights when I tested them. I'm trying to find a wiring diagram to show me the power wire for the passenger front parking light.

If you haven't checked this site out yet I'd recommend it.

How do you want them to turn on? With parking lights or by a switch?

I found the info I needed on that site... Good link! Thank you!!

With that info brings another question. Seems I did tap into the correct wire to try to test the cab lights. I tied my cab light power wire into the turn signal power wire. Now, I may not have had it ground properly. So do I need to tie in the ground wire with the ground of the turn signal wiring for the cab lights to come on??

Thanks again for that website. I figured out the problem. Here, I didn't have it grounded properly. I spliced the power wire into my turn signal constant power wire and grounded the ground to the battery and boom. They lit up perfectly. Even tested with the turn signal activated and no issues there.

I'll be installing them in the Spring when the weather warms back up. Can't wait! :)

Update:

So, the weather was unbelievably warm today, so I went ahead and did my install. I got to be honest, it was a long day today. If you do this install yourself on a non-2500/3500, give yourself plenty of time to do it. If anyone wants step-by-step instructions on a 1500 to do cab lights on factory switch, I will be more than happy to help.

Here's a night shot of them. I'll upload some daytime shots in the morning.
