So im currently replacing lower control arms, driver side was fairly easy and everything came out without an issue, now the passenger side rearward lower control arm bolt will not come loose out of the bushing. Ive smacked it for hours with a 4lb hammer with no luck. The forward lower control arm bolt came loose from the bushing after a couple taps, what do i do now? Also i noticed that on my truck the inner cv axle is blocking the cam/caster bolt from fully coming out which doesnt really matter right now because i cant even get the bolt to move out of the bushing right now. The axle was in the way for the driver side too but i was able to remove the cv axle with ease on the drivers side. This passenger side has really been a pain. If anyone has any tips or advice please let me know, Thanks
Mark

Better get that torch out and heat it up lol:flamingdevil: since your replacing doesnt matter if you destroy bushing ect you may even need a new bolt.

Ive run into a problem with removing my passenger side inner cv axle from the stub shaft. There is alot of play where the inner axle meets the stub shaft and seems like it should easily slide off. I am able to slide it back and forth on the shaft about an 1/8 of an inch so i believe i am having a problem with the retaining clip. Ive tried hammering it while having someone pull on the axle and nothin. Ive also just yanked and yanked on the axle with all of my weight and couldnt get it to pop off. What is the problem here and what can i do to get this axle off??

Are you sure the play isn't on the internal parts OR are you actually seeing it move between the cv and the shaft coming out of the differential?

Might try Knock er Loose penetrant.

Its not internal i can see it moving between the cv and stub shaft. The shaft itself does not move at all. Yesterday i used a little bit of penetrant and spent 3 hours trying to hammer it out and pry it out with pry bars. What else can i do to get it off? And since the axle isn't actually seized onto the shaft does that mean the retaining ring/clip is whats holding it on at this point??

That’s a somewhat common issue. The splines are worn and you can see a fair bit of rust residue around the inner joint. Most likely the splines on the stub shaft and inner splines of the cv axle are pooched. You’ll need to replace both of them if you can.

If you have access to a torch try heating it up. You can also use a hammer/ punch on where the splines would be on the CV shaft to try and knock the rust loose.
