My 2013 ram started chirping horn when parked and locked. Found 1 remote the contacts where loose and out of place. took battery out and we were ok till today it started doing it again. i have a remote ordered through dealership but not here yet. could the other remote be bad too or is it something else with the truck?

Recently I was sitting in my home office like I am now and my truck locked itself, horn went off. Scared the heck out of me since it was late at night and my truck is locked in my garage at all times when I am home.

Long story short, those little buttons inside my main remote all came loose. When I took the fob apart they all fell out. Took the battery out of that fob and switched over to using my second fob and everything has been fine since.
After a little research, this seems to happen to from time to time. Sure startled me though!
I have read that you can glue them back in place but you can also buy the inserts on amazon for pretty cheap. Haven't worried about it enough to replace my main one yet.
Hope your issue is as simple as that. I can snag some pics of mine if you want to see it. Still sitting on my kitchen table haha

Take apart your FOB
Remove the Green Circuit Board
You can then use Q Tips & Isopropyl Alcohol
Clean anything that looks like silver solder
As you are cleaning everything up, look for anything that is Brownish

What is causing the horn beeping is a short in the circuit board

In your area, there are several Locksmith shop that can program your Rams key FOBs

I recently had my Ram's FOB short out
i drove to a Mobile Locksmith store, the Ladies inside told me that both their vans were on calls, but one of the Ladies had the Programmer to program my Ram.
I gave her my Spare FOB & the FOB that had shorted out.

She walked out to the sidewalk to my Ram, i walked 2 doors down to get a soda.
Then i walked back to the Locksmith store & the Lady with the programmer walked in shortly after me.
She cut a Valet key & unlocked the Ram's door manually.

For a Brand new FOB & Valet key & the programming, cost me $145.98, no appointment, no waiting
She cut a new Valet key & walked out & tested it

As G-Ride990 mentioned:

The little buttons that are part of the outside case, can be re-attached using some adhesives.

You can also buy just the case itself & use the old green circuit board in the new case.
No programming needed

After removing batteries from both remotes everything stopped. No more chirping or horn sounding. Investigated the keyfob and found under the board the metal contacts attached to the rubber piece were not attached and were out of place causing keyfob to short out resulting in horn chirps. Went to dealer and purchase of a keyfob and programming was 240$ so i jumped and ordered one. My appointment was today to pick up keyfob and to my luck the mobile locksmith was at the dealership keying vehicles. So I approached her and asked if the rubber insert with the metal contacts was available and could I purchase them and she said yes. Rubber inserts are 25$ installed.. she also told me that those keyfobs are always going bad due to the contacts separating from the rubber after time. She also said very rarely do the boards go bad. She also rebuilt my spare and tested it for 25$ and said never go to the dealership to get your keyfob repaired. FYI

I have verified and yes you can buy just the rubber part with the contacts on amazon for 7$ to 10$ a piece. Quality is unknown so cant say how long they will last but a easy fix.

So, when you laugh at this post thank me later. I had same problem as OP. Took the remote apart and thought, i got some gorilla glue lets do this. Worked great for about 3 days. Well, I am a retired vet and current government contractor and my main place of duty is on a military installation. Anyways, leaving a motor pool one day after work unlock the truck from the FOB and still going strong. My ritual is to start the truck, open the back door and throw all my crap back there, get in and go. Welp, that day was very windy and at the exact moment i close the back door the remote started trying to lock the truck and succeeded. While all this is going on that Colorado wind slammed my drivers door. I am literally screwed and here is why. My wife, unbeknown to me has lost the 2nd fob. Welp, after i learn that nugget of info i call up state farm. Of course we can help you says state farm. Mind you, my phone, which I spend a considerable amount of time on throughout the day was at about 25 percent battery at this point. Ok, so the first locksmith claimed state farm never sent the payment, they seemed kind of shady to begin with. Cool, state farm try another one. Second one calls me and says hey i am on another job right now is 30 minutes cool. I said ya, oh, btw can you get onto this army installation. No, I cant. Dang, ok, state farm send another one please. State farm then gives me a locksmith who's phone is disconnected and i cannot find their business on google or google maps. So, I have a truck that is running, its Colorado in February, and the building and motorpool is closed. Its 8pm at night so I said screw it, called up the first locksmith because they were like bro we would love to help you but you know, state farm never sent the money. I say how much, they say 250.00. Cool lets do this. Pay these fools and was like you can get onto post right. Ya ya we do it all the time man dont worry. Ok, my phones about to die so i will be here waiting. No problem bro, be there in 15 minutes. Welp, phone was at 3 percent when i hung up so i turn off the screen, stick it in my pocket, and within 2 minutes I feel that vibration and my smart watch disconnected from my phone. Dang. Welp, turns out they could not get onto post, they tried calling me and emailing me, but i have no phone now. At 9:30PM I decided they were not coming and busted out my right rear window. It was a terrible night. Subscribe to my post for more idiotic things I get myself into.
