Anyone research this yet? Your help or ideas would be appreciated.
I want to purchase the best fuel economy 2013 Ram 1500 crew cab or quad cab 4x4. What would be the best engine, trans, gears, combo for best mpg?
I want to order one. I just sold a Ford 2011 Ford f250 6.7 diesel. Spent $9,200.00 on diesel last year and I am over it. Gonna buy a Ram

Have they even released the fuel economy ratings for the 6 speed and the Pentastar? All I have ever seen touted is the ratings with the 8 speed behind the Pentastar.

I'm not sure........like you, same thing I'm reading. Supposedly 25mpg on a 2wd V6 8spd.

Like any of us would ever see that. LOL

Thanks. Do you know what the hemi and 8 sped will get? I plan on 4x4. THe Ram website seems to have no build sheet on the 2013. Why isnt it updated? My local dealer seem to not have a clue either to when 2013's will start showing up. Ridiculous if they are gonna advertise the 2013 on their site you would think the build would be a 2013 not a 2012

I believe the ONLY fuel ratings they have released are with the Pentaster and the 8speed...thats there gimmick right now. They are saying the Pentastar with the 8 speed is capable of 18/25...they are only saying mileage will be "20% better" with the Hemi. Also from what I hear, the Pentastar will cost $1,000 MORE than the Hemi.

not sure on that one yet. The 8 speed isn't out for a bit.

2013 Ram 1500 4x2....Hemi, 14/20. I'd say the 4x4 would come in at 13/18(19). or so.

I emailed Ram and was sent a response stating the 2013's would be on the website in the beginning of November.

I passed a rail offloading distribution center north of Houston yesterday. There were 2013 Rams sitting there so it shouldn't be long until they show up at the dealers if they're not already there.

After I wrote this I went by Spring Dodge in Spring, TX and they have 4 or 5 2013's in stock. I played around in a Longhorn (no time for a test drive) and I was seriously impressed with the new dash and 8.4" touchscreen. If you're into tech toys you'll love the screen. Played with the phone pairing and it was fast and easy. Everything in one place, looks like a lot of thought went into the design.

I'll return for a test drive when they get one in with air suspension. Might even try a V6 just to get a feel for the 8 speed automatic.

I read about the 8 spd paired with the Pentastar in the 300. The article stated the shift points were absolutely perfect. Will be interested to hear your impression of this combination in a pick-up truck... even more interested to hear the performance with a little weight behind the cab.

The Pentastar V6 is indeed rated for 25 highway with 8 speed (gears could vary that) on the 2013 Ram. Big bonus with Pentastar is no turbo to give you trouble and still gets 305 hp. Ecoturd is fine as long as you are not towing. Local implement in town went with Ecoturds for sales guys and he said he hates towing with it but it is okay empty. I find that V8's get into situations that they are over matched can only imagine a V6. I would rather have the biggest engine offered in any vehicle I pick so it is not worked so hard just doing daily functions.

or do i just suck it up and buy the hemi and hope to get between 15 and 20

I'm interested in that 6.5' bed on the crew cab, but to the best of my understanding it won't be out until around April.
