I just bought this about 5 weeks ago my other Ram was an 04 with the floor shift for the 4x4.

New truck came with no owners manual so here are 2 questions.

Can the dash switch for the 4x4 be put in 4x4 on the fly like driving 35+mph or do I have to come to a stop and switch to 4x4?

Second question is I have the power fold mirrors. Can they also be folded manually with no damage?

thanks

Hey, yes you can shift on the fly as the transfer case is clutched, it won't hurt anything. Only time you need to stop is when shifting into 4 low. Im not sure on the mirrior question.
Brandon.

1Slide1.jpg Interesting these are the planes I worked on Boeing 707 built in 1964 and still in service as a test bed. Experimental for the Government here at Hanscom Air Base I retired 4 years ago (36 years) But loved working on the planes. Many black programs, built and launched ballistic test missiles from Island of Kaui and launched Satellites from Florida.

Hope your work is just as interesting

Yes can shift on the fly.

I don't believe fold in the mirrors does any damage, but I wouldn't make a habit of it.

We did all kinds of communication installs for all Government branches. Including private companies contracted by the government and Used our planes for test beds to test out their communication packages. It was always interesting never the same day, lots of traveling and lots of fun. So hope you have fun with your work. So I now stay home and play computer all day.

You can shift on the fly up to about 50 mph going into 4X4 High. For 4X4 Low you need to put the transmission in neutral and moving less than 5 mph. I usually try to be moving slightly when going in/out of 4X4 Low.
It does not hurt the power fold mirrors to fold them in manually. You can even fold the mirror back out if it was manually closed. You'll have to hit the power fold button twice, once to get the mirrors to "sync up" being folded in, hit the button a second time and they'll unfold.

Yes to both questions and doing so will do no damage.
