Ok I went to the NY autoshow yesterday and had the opportunity to see the 2013 Ram in person. Some of the improvements I like and some I don't. But that is expected. I think the interior has been improved and I wish the new interior could be swapped but I doubt with the changes. As for the big thing now LOL the headlights and tails are just dropins. They still offer the quads and regular headlights. Looks like they dropped the duals. So if someone wanted to change the current 09-12 to a 13 it can be done real easy. I have a felling even with the grill and bumper its just a simple swap too. As for the shutter thing its not a complete block of the radiator There is still a few inches at the bottom of the shutter that's completely open. For the knob shifter that's only an 8 speed option other wise they still have the console and the column shifter. They only had 1500's there now. I'm sure the 2500's will be next year.

As for the pics I have plenty of them. Taken with a DSLR so they are of good quality thanks to my GF. Look thru them all we tried to get good detailed shots.

Hope ya like.

Awesome review man. Great pics. The front end look a million times better with the quads. And that gauge cluster and center stack is just sick. Love the middle of the dash with new controls and big screen and live the screen in gauge cluster. Awesome.

great pics, thanks for sharing. some of that stuff i haven't seen yet on various other sites, like the longhorn interior shots. they've done quite a bit for a mid-cycle refresh.

like:
TorqueFlite 8spd
grille and bumper
projector headlights - don't look 'cheap' to me, like others have said
gauge cluster
new sport wheels

undecided:
air suspension - lifting could be a pain but might make for an 'out of the box' front leveling kit?

dislike:
rotary gear select knob on the 8spd - looks out of place and gaudy
chrome bezel around taillights - hate it on the F150's and i'll hate it on the new rams
red '5.7 liter' lettering below the hemi badge - small complaint but looks better in black
vertical fog lights - looks 'boy racer' to me
active grille shutter system - probably no real world benefit and just something else to break
center stack layout on the upscale interior - don't like the looks of it, not aesthetically pleasing

all subjective opinion obviously. damn nice job pushing the boundaries and going above and beyond a typical mid-cycle refresh. Ram should be extremely competitive in 2013.

I like most of it but the gear selector knob is no good, and I think that they probably spent too much time and money on the active grille shutter system, for something that will likely have virtually no benefit and cause major problems when it breaks. Other than those two things it seems to be a good improvement.

glad they still have the old headlights still, those projectors are ugly, especially on a black truck. nice pics!

Love it! Kind of surprised how dirty the stuff is though(back passenger door by the inside handle, scratch by driver side headlight, dirty paint chips). Wonder what the red lights in the steering wheel were for? Love everything else though! Oh and it has been proven that the grille shutters work by the cruze and the focus

The shutter system is pointless behind the grill IMO. If you're not blocking the air flow for improved aero, you have to do it at the initial point of impact.

You can tape up your grill, using painters tape, and during almost any non towing driving situations, you won't overheat. That being said, I experimented with grill blocks, covering the bumper holes etc on my '00 Ram. Doing A-B-A tests I saw an increase of like 1 MPG. Whoopity doo! Not worth it IMO.

Funny, I did the same thing on my '97 Sentra SE-R and I saw a 4 MPG gain on the highway. I got Red 200 MPH tape and made a grill block and cruised it for months like that w/o any issue///

Ram is offering ALOT of options for these bad boys so I think most of my ext concerns can be optioned out. I'd still modify the center stack with the 09-12 version....thats my biggest complaint so far.

I was wondering what the lights are for in the wheel too.

The headlights - the standard quads are different. SLIGHTLY. Overall shape is the same, but I can see that the inner bezel has a few flares next to the reflector (which are in the reflector and carried to the bezel now). Also, the reflector bowls look different (I guess where they are getting their better light output statement). Also, the bulb cover on the low beam is different.

:D

suppose to be an 30% light improvement. As for the lights in the steering wheel that was just a thing for that cutaway truck.

Nice pics!! i like it to the point of the paint job. Looks like everything is a two color paint scheme. Only way i would like that is if it has some kind of design to it. Liked the sub hidden under the back seat in the cut away truck. Wheels looked pretty good too, would do the quad headlights and let JJ make up a pair if i ever got 1.

I like what you said here about pushing the boundaries. Dodge and Ram really all the Chrysler products that are coming out impress me with willingness to attempt bold things sure we don't like or agree on all of them but they refuse to be vanilla and that appreciate and love about the brands they have becoming. When they launched "Different" all those years ago I loved it and still appreciate trucks that at the time were just that. I had hoped they would never use blonde wood in anything again as it made me hate the Aspen and I am sure others did too. I love the wood trim in my Laramie but in this refresh I am drawn towards the Limited. I don't think I'll get one as I am really trying to have same truck for 7 years and not change like always end up doing. Trailer brake right in the dash is a nice idea especially since all info is in evic anyway.

Can we all please celebrate right now that Fiat came in and saved our company from the Daimler flames. Wow they really are doing an awesome job bringing the brand to life.
Here's to another year of selling units and making money!

They even have the push start button for them now (stuck out the most to me ) lol wonder if its like the challengers just a little piece of plastic that pops in as for the center stacks I like the new look except the gear selector looks out of place love the cluster guages looks like ram is moving nor to the luxury truck side which means might see even higher pricing but all in all I think they did a good job on the 2013 models

That screen is BIG!

I'm still undecided...there are some things I really like about it, but like the others have mentioned, I'm just not feeling that shifter knob. Everything else I can pretty much option out. One of the biggest things I like is the crew cab with full bed.

Is it just me or does the back seat now look like it has air vents (bottom corners of the rear of the console)? That's one of the biggest complaints I have with my interior is that no air vents to the rear. Heck, my last truck was a 2002 Silverado and even had them.

I do like the color options and wheel choices for 2013 - plenty to choose from now.

Thanks for getting us those pics Matt.
