You are right .. it's not on warranty so find a good tranny shop. That's what I did but due to parts hard to get my truck is still at the tranny shop.Do a search on this site. Lots of info here. Common issue is the valve body. Unlike the above I would avoid going to a dealer as lots of them are liars or incompetent, unless you know of a reputable one . An independent mechanic recommended by friends or family if you have to go that direction.
You are in limp mode.. go straight to the dealer and get an assessment, if they say we've ordered parts and you can drive it until they come in .. don't. They did that to me twice and twice my tranny was toast after and had to be replaced
No kidding... i was pissed the 2nd time, mostly due to the amount of down timea dealer told you to drive in 4th gear and you did it. twice ?
let me get back to you when i find a way to comprehend that
Depending on what you do with that truck, and being that it's a 2014 with 70k miles (I've got more miles on my 2017), and that Ram isn't particularly known for its transmissions...it's not terribly surprising. It sounds like this truck sits a lot, and if you've got debris floating around in your trans from dust intrusion or just simple wear, it's going to start to settle out any time the fluid isn't moving, and build up throughout the lines. If it builds up enough inside the valve body it's going to put you in limp mode.I had the codes pulled and it said shift solenoid malfunction I believe. PO755 was the code. Looks like a trip to the tranny shop is in my future....... 70 thousand miles and already needs trans work.
Yes they are and if you are mechanically inclined enough to change your trans fluid then changing the solenoid is simple to do. I would recommend upgrading the valvebody while in there since it has to come down anyway to get to the solenoid and they are problematic.A bad solenoid doesn't mean you need a rebuild. They are known to go bad. Pretty easy to replace
Does it go into 2nd upon manually shifting into 2nd?My truck is stuck in 4th gear? Any ideas?
When mine was in limp mode manually shifting had no effect.... just first to fourth. IIRC, the manual shift button did nothing.Does it go into 2nd upon manually shifting into 2nd?
And get a shift kit.. the one that comes with the stiffening plate to replace the weak warped oneYes they are and if you are mechanically inclined enough to change your trans fluid then changing the solenoid is simple to do.
