Hi guys,
I've been on diablo website, posted there, ad on ramforumz, cant get an answer.
I'm not new to tuning with diablo products, and I've learned that their m drop downs where you pick your vehicle aren't always accurate, and in this case the site says they have shift point options for the 2014 8 speed. I don't believe them, and as I said they don't answer questions on their site very well. so I'm hoping someone can tell me :

A.With the trinity or the IT2, is there any shift point control options, and if so what are they, what do they rise the shift points to?

B. Also, can I raise the RPM in gear to IDK max and then use the shift buttons to shift at higher revs?

any other comments are welcome about your experience with these tuners.
Thanks!

There is currently no support for transmission tuning/shift point adjustment for the 8 speed transmissions, across the board.

Depending on who you ask, there is an ETA of "maybe late this year" to "probably not anytime soon" for the time line on when the tuning might become available. As it sits, nobody has figured out the tuning on them yet so nobody can tune them.

Diablo always says they're working on it. No date.

^^^^^^^ ya, what he said. Though I will say the 8 speed shifts pretty well as is, shift recovery at WOT keeps my truck with 3.92's smack dab in the power.

Like mentioned, you cannot set shift points on the 8sp trucks with any tuner on the market at this time. With custom tuning, Hemifever can raise your rev limiter to allow you to shift manually at a higher rpm, and he also makes quite a few tq management changes that will make the truck much more responsive, and will make it shift quicker as well.

Thanks for the prompt , informative reply!!!!!. I waited two years for tranny tuning for my 08 Charger R/T,.

you did confirm that the rev limit can be raised and that will effect the button shifts. I discovered the 8 speed as hold in gear, so this will be fun to test out. I have not found a dyno run sheet for a similar build to what I have,(1) I'd like to shoot for a shift point 500 RPM past peak HP. I'd also like to not rev the stock valve train over 6200ish.
When I recently purchased the truck I picked the 2014 to make tuning easier/ less expensive for me( not like its hard to swap out a PCM)

I'm looking into purchasing an IT2 soon, Ill look at Moe's first, I have seen the adds for the Hemifever tunes, his reputation speaks for itself, in the LX world as well.

Its possible once I try out his tune I may not care about shift points....for awhile.

I'm going to try not to go into the motor on the truck, just some bolt ons and a tune...I say Try, but you know. sometimes I just can't or don't want to stop myself.

(1) vararam , 180 tstat, cat back.

Thanks again!

Are you the same Rupert with the 11 second 5.7 Charger on the LX forum? I was on there a few months back asking about how many 5.7 cars made it into the 11's N/A, and we finally did it in our 2011 5.7 Ram a few weeks ago. We have these new trucks dialed in very well, so its not hard to make it quick with a few simple bolt on parts and a tuning.

That would be me, Thank you! Congrats! Getting a truck into the 11s is no easy feat, the additional weight and size must require another 50-75 HP/ TQ. My car is All motor stock bottom end. 11.74..I might get an 11.6 this year, I have not run race gas and bumped the timing yet so hang on!

What did you do to get into the 11s?

Wanna race?

Our truck is a 2011 RC/SB 5 speed. Has full bolt ons, Moe's XTP cam, Modern Muscle ported heads with stock valves, 4.56 gears, Edge 3400 stall converter, and Hemifever tune.

With you being an 8sp, we do have a 2014 crew cab 8sp customer that ran [email protected] mph with bolt ons, Moe's HPS cam, 3.92 gears, and Hemifever tune. That's a full crew cab with stock tq converter and stock heads. The same truck ran 12.7@108 mph without the cam. These trucks have potential.

oh you had to tell me that!:) Ill be happy if I can break into the 12s. I really dont want to put a cam in it, because, well the heads are off so might as well go see Dave at Modern Muscle and get the heads ported, long tubes, high flow cats. can't get the 60 foot down without a TC so the tranny is coming out. and dam I have 3.55 rear gear so either smallr tires ( DRs probably) or a LSD gear, probably both.

Well there's my list.

Its a never ending cycle that we cant get away from...haha. Once you've had a fast vehicle, its hard not to mess with everything you drive.

Good luck on getting the charger in the 11.6's. That's movin' for a N/A 5.7.

I know , right? I raised the rev limit on my snow blower...just kidding, or am I?

I notice that on your site you currently offer the IT2 (449.00) with a hemifever tune for 20.00 more. Is that correct and if its a sale, how long willthe package be available at that price and whats the normal price?

Thanks again
