Searching threads here and elsewhere, I kinda get the impression that cleaning the battery terminals is a a good first step. So I did that. This appears to be the original battery. Along the way, I noticed that the black plastic (fuse?) block attached to the positive post appeared to be a little loose. (12mm nut)
I wire brushed all connections clean and re-assembled.
I also replaced the key fob battery.
The truck performed this antic to me today. I tried to crank it 2x in rapid succession with the same results. I pulled the fob and rotated it 180*, re-inserted and it cranked normally. I did not notice any lights on the dash anywhere until I flipped the key fob.
I did not think to try the remote start off the key fob at the time.
It did this once before a few weeks back and it seemed like I couldn't pull the fob. But I got it out after a bit of tugging, re-inserted the fob and it then started.
I've only had the truck since 2/23, so I'm still learning the "normal" indications.
It's been fine since the episode earlier today.
Maybe the factory battery is trying to tell me something?
