2014 radio on AM

Just bought a 2014 1500 with 3.6 engine and back up camera set up. I noticed static on the am band even on the local stations. Talk to service rep at dealer and he mentioned chrysler does not put much effort for the software on the am band and concentrates on xm and fm. He told me that he could look at it, but unless the static is so bad u can't hear it, it can't be improved. Is this the norm

Also, how much does uconnect cost and what do you get for it. Is there a free trial period
