I have a 2014 Ram with the 5-inch touch screen radio (RA2/UConnect 5). I have an iPhone 6 and it works well streaming music to the radio in my Ram. That's pretty much all I use for music in my truck, so it's important to me that it works and works well.
My phone is due for an upgrade, and I'm scared to get an iPhone 8 or X because I'm worried about Bluetooth compatibility. I hear all kinds of horror stories with newer phones and older vehicles, and there's little hope for a software update at this point to fix any issues - I don't want to be stuck with a phone that doesn't work with my truck. I can still get an iPhone 6s, which would be a pretty minor upgrade, but I know it will work (my wife has a 6s, and hers works as well as my 6). But I'd much rather get the iPhone 8, as long as I can be sure it will work well in my truck.
Anybody have direct experience with the iPhone 8/UConnect 5 combo? Any problems getting/staying connected, or anything else I should know about?
