I have never been a big fan of tuners for the purpose of performance gains.. but my powerwagon with 6.4 had some natural oddities that drove me nuts.. MDS... useless..., odd and terrible shift patterns, always felt like it was lugging, didn't feel peppy. Some odd shudders when turning one direction that felt like the TC was slipping...
So I bought the unlocked ecu and the hemifever tune (trinity tuner).. Simply the best mod I have done. At first I didn't really notice much of a difference and on my first test run I was a bit disappointed.. BUT after driving it awhile and getting hemifevers tune (instead of stock canned tune) my truck is MUCH more enjoyable. I boosted the throttle an additional 10% (Sean says he has it already boosted but I don't now how much) and the truck pulls much harder. Shifting has improved 100% My gas mileage actually improved which I was not expecting considering I disabled mds.. freeway driving is better.. I think that is where I actually see a power gain. Since this change I have not had the transmission shudder at all.. I highly recommend this if you are frustrated with the tranny and mds.
