I have never been a big fan of tuners for the purpose of performance gains.. but my powerwagon with 6.4 had some natural oddities that drove me nuts.. MDS... useless..., odd and terrible shift patterns, always felt like it was lugging, didn't feel peppy. Some odd shudders when turning one direction that felt like the TC was slipping...

So I bought the unlocked ecu and the hemifever tune (trinity tuner).. Simply the best mod I have done. At first I didn't really notice much of a difference and on my first test run I was a bit disappointed.. BUT after driving it awhile and getting hemifevers tune (instead of stock canned tune) my truck is MUCH more enjoyable. I boosted the throttle an additional 10% (Sean says he has it already boosted but I don't now how much) and the truck pulls much harder. Shifting has improved 100% My gas mileage actually improved which I was not expecting considering I disabled mds.. freeway driving is better.. I think that is where I actually see a power gain. Since this change I have not had the transmission shudder at all.. I highly recommend this if you are frustrated with the tranny and mds.

Did the same thing for the same reasons with the same results on my 5.7.

Who do I need to call and what do I need to ask for.
Mines a 2014 Mega 6.4 with 4:10 gears.
Had the same issues you say the tuner fixed.

the 2014 and previous you just need the tuner. 2015 and above need a new unlocked ecu on top of the tuner. So pricing is I believe 459.99 to 999 respectively. I am using the intune 2 i2010 programmer. If you google hemifevertuning you will see where to purchase.

This is great to hear. Had just recently pulled the trigger on the ECM/inTune for my 2016 PW for the exact same reasons. Been checking USPS tracking every hour for the past couple of days LOL.

My question is this. When you buy an unlocked ECM and put it in wont the mileage stay on your old one? So when you switch back to stock to go to dealer the mileage on the cluster and the mileage on the ECM will be different. Is this true?

I Think they stopped storing the mileage on the ECM, for this reason. I think its stored somewhere else so that you can swap clusters and ECMs without losing it.

The keyword is *think*.

I cant imagine you will have to do the ECM swap much longer, but who knows. They still don't have tuners on the ecodiesel trucks either.

Mileage is stored in both.
Mileage is stored on the gage cluster.

I have tested the mileage theory at my local dealership. I have a 2015, and installed my new unlocked PCM at only 300 miles. At around 5000 miles, I went in for service, and put the stock PCM back in the truck. When they hooked their computer up to it, it read the correct 5000 miles that was on the odometer, even though that PCM technically only had a hair over 300 miles on it. I have a good relationship with the service guys, so I asked them if they could find a mileage discrepancy, and they said no.

According to the guys I work with they said the pcm stores it, the cluster stores it, and different module (but maybe) stores it. Maybe they have changed it when they went to this new encryption though.

If they can see mileage on ecu and cluster I'm sure it would void warranty. Just like with GM. GM actually has it stored in the cluster, ECM and the TCM. If any is off they reserve the right to void warranty and put your truck on the black list. This is the biggest reason I'm thinking of staying stock until warranty is up.

What kind of gas mileage improvement have you seen? Are you running the 89 or 91 octane tune? I've been running 87 as the premium on 89 and 91 up here is ridiculous, but will probably give the 91 a test and see if the improvement offsets the cost.
