Looking for thoughts and opinions. 2015 ram 1500 with alittle over 100,000 on it now. Was looking into doing a transmission service when I discovered there is not a replaceable filter. I have done some research and found that Dorman makes a pan with a replaceable filter. With that said I’m leary of Dorman stuff due to the dubious quality of many of their products. Is this a good thing to do, or is there a better way to go. Getting ready to tow a trailer (5000 lbs) about 4k miles so I’d like to service it if I can.

PPE makes an aluminum pan with replaceable filters. Otherwise I would go right back to a factory pan with built in filter. I myself did the ppe pan option. It also takes an extra quart of oil over the stock pan which in my mind is great for towing.

Need some further info. I called PPE and they told me that the pan in question won’t fit a 5.7 Hemi truck. Is this true or was I given a textbook answer?

If your 2015 has an ZF 8HP70 transmission, there is a PPE pan for it, unless it's been discontinued. Several members here do have them. I am thinking about getting one myself, but money is very tight at present.

Your info shows a 2006 hemi, though. Assuming it hasn't been updated yet
