Unless something really grabs you about the 5th Gen, then it's not necessarily easy to justify it especially with the deep manufacturer discounts on the Classic 4th Generation. The engines once they get the Gremlins worked out are a little better and if you're looking for that truly high end trim (especially with the 12" screen) then okay I get it, but the Classic was just too good to pass up deal wise.

eXACTLY

Really the only reason why I would get a 5th gen other than being new is the interior.

I'm probably going to keep my 4th gen a while.

what i find dumb about the new 5th gen, is the sport package does not come with the sport hood. Canada's sport does tho. (esp lifted).

The sport package doesn't come with the sport hood here? I'm pretty sure I've seen lots of those in the states...but maybe it's like the 4th gen sports where the hood was still an extra option so you didn't necessarily see every sport have the sport hood.

it is not listed in the sports appearance pkg when building one online. i believe if you build a laramie you can add the hood (its own option). but part of the sport appearance pkg. i feel that each edition should be its own thing. sport has its things, rebel etc. rebel and sport should have different hoods and parts imo. but at the same time allow someone to make changes / additions if they order it. we should be able to order whatever we want..not lose option b because we chose option a. just my opinion

ive been getting calls from my dealer trying to Get me to trade in my 2015 crew cab ram for a 2019 crew cab ram. Did anybody do this? What are the benefits if any of a 2019 besides being a newer year?

I did a trade in with my 2013 Big Horn and went to two different dealers and the second dealer gave me 6 grand more then the first dealer just on the trade in which helps pay for the new truck so just do not go to one dealer because their could be thousands
of reasons to go to one more dealer Just saying

So it sounds like it's pretty similar to the 4th gen sports then, just on Laramie's in the 5th generation? I agree though, if you order a sport package I think that should be included in that rather than a separate option to check off.

Sold my 2015 for a short term sports car (easy @quitepeen ) LOL and went back to a new 2019. But I chose the Classic. Like the 4th gen looks, knew exactly what I needed to do to start modding it, and I never buy the first year on anything, or try not too.
Now I've seen some lifted 2019 new body styles...and they are growing on me. Maybe a 2021 is in the future.

I test drove a 19 Rebel and an 18 Laramie. The 2019 had an amazing interior with a noticeable increase in rear legroom. The panoramic sunroof was great as well.

However, the 18 still had a really good interior and had the Ecodiesel. Also, it was about $15k cheaper. I would have been happy with either, but I chose the 18.

I just love my 2017 Gen 4 Big Horn Crew Cab 4x4. With my lifetime warranty pretty much planning on this being my forever truck. 59 now so might make that happen!

I have a 2012 and I kept it and bought a 2019 Classic. I do not like the new body although it has grown on me a little. It still looks like a Tundra. I like my 12 but it only has a 4.7 so I am going to sell it soon. I hope this 19 Classic holds up as well as my others have. If it does it will be my last truck as well.

I generally trade up every 3 or 4 years. I went from a 2011 Durango Citadel to a 2014 Ram !500 Laramie Long Horn, and in 2017 traded for a Laramie EcoDiesel model. Still have it, but will probably trade up in 2020...I always come out pretty danged good, trade allowance vs discounted new unit... My trade in usually has less than 40 K miles...

The main reasons I traded to a 2019 are adaptive cruise, lane assist, Etorque, better safety rating and much better lights. The extra room, reclining rear seats, flat rear floor, 900 watt 19 speaker Harman/Kardon , remote tailgate, quieter interior, 12" screen, etc, are simply icing on the cake. Love the stop start with the Etorque. Electric rear diff lock instead of limited slip differential. Power running boards, tailgate step, cornering lights, better storage, panoramic roof. There are likely many more advantages to the 5th gen. I spend a lot of time driving and wouldn't even consider buying an old style but that's just my opinion. Buy the old style if these things don't matter to you. That's way the offer both! I had a 17,15,12,10 and 07 previously.

Never get a first year new Gen. just my opinion. Also, the new ones are hideous. Also, just my opinion. They should be called a Ramtrundraradoierracoma. It’s like the Sierra, tundra and Tacoma had an **** and the Ram popped out

Agreed that they are much more generic in style now. They get good scores from consumer sites, but I also agree that 1st year of a redesign is probably not the right move.

The first year issue may have some validity on certain vehicles sometimes. Ram couldn't afford to screw this up. My 19 will have 30,000 on it this week and is almost 5 months old. I have never had a single issue and only one recall. That is better than my 15 or 17 and equals my 2012.

go spend some time in the 5th gen section or on 5th gen rams. a whole lot of new owners on there who will disagree with you. i looked at them heavily and was about to order one before i found my 14. i came across several instances where dealers didnt know hoe to fix the trucks. your "ram couldnt afford to screw this up" isnt valid. they dont care. people bought them. yhey dony care about repairs. heck look at all the bad examples of ram customer service. again, ram made it and are selling it. thats all they care about.

If you look at surveys of dealerships across the board, RAM/FCA dealerships usually come in last in customer service overall. There are many that are almost as bad, but none quite as bad. Nothing new here, takes more work to find a good one than other brands, unfortunately.

I keep coming back because... its worth it! The only truck, in my opinion, that comes close to the quality and features is the blue ovals. I sat in a Titan last weekend, so I've sat in all the 1/2 ton trucks now, and the Ram is still the nicest interiors and the nicest feature set, especially for the money. Those Fords they want an arm and a leg for, and the 'yotas, they act like you should be kissing their feet when they give you $2k off of MSRP.

After only 5 months with no issues isnt really saying much for any vehicle-- My Ram is 7yrs old and has had zero issues--I think has some meaning to itDSC00552.JPG
