This is a heads up for owners of 2016 Ram 3500 dual rear wheel vehicles. Since purchasing my new Ram I have found two separate wiring defects on my vehicle. A similar situation may exist on your vehicle. I purchased mine in Oct 2015. It was manufactured in Sept. Shortly after purchase I found the main wiring harness feeding the rear of the truck was routed improperly over the frame rail on the drivers side with the bed placed on top of the harness resulting in a crushing situation. It also resulted in the floor of the bed having a hump in it. This was visible by looking at the top of the frame through the wheel well forward of the rear wheels on the drivers side. Had that repaired by my dealer.
Yesterday, while installing mud flaps on the rear I found another wire crushing situation exists on my vehicle. The wires feeding the side marker/clearance lights on the fenders (red light) were routed and supported improperly which allowed them to get caught between the top of the rear overload spring and the rubber stop. The passenger side was already being crushed and the drivers side was very close to getting caught in the same space. This is at the rear of the spring adjacent to the wheel well liner. I caught it early enough, only the outer loom was crushed. I rerouted those wires.
With only 3300 miles on my truck I am disappointed in my first Dodge/Ram purchase ever. I am even more disappointed in the response I received from Ram when I notified them of the situation and the fact that my truck is unlikely to be the only one with these problems. I got a generic response by email that my "concerns" are best diagnosed by a dealer. They kept referring to my "concerns" and never touched on the issues.
