2016 Ram 2500 - Def System Problems

Hey guys,
My wife's truck, 2016 Ram 2500 Laramie 4x4, had a trouble code earlier this week.
The dashboard said, "Service Def System."
She took it to the dealer and they said that Ram is re-engineering a part and it will not be available until April 1, 2021.

My wife runs parts for our contracting business and we need this truck!
The dealer provided a rental, but we need our truck.

This dealer is somewhat suspect to us. They have taken advantage of us on a truck sale in the past by sneaking in 2 more interest points on the loan paperwork. I didn't catch it till it was too late.

The truck had a Tire Pressure System code a few weeks ago.
She took the truck in to get serviced 3 times, they kept saying that nothing was wrong.
She finally got them to repair it.
The last time that she took it in, they asked if we wanted an "Appraisal."
This truck has been paid off for a year, there is no way in hell that we are going to trade it in!
We only have 35,000 miles on it. It's still basically new.

I don't want to talk bad about anyone..........but.......
Do any of you guys know about a Def System problem that can't be remedied for the next 6 months?

you would need to know what the error code for the DEF system is. It could be something as simple as a plugged injector/nozzle or the DEF pump assembly is bad. Have had people successfully clean the injector and pump assemblies to get the working.
Not 100% sure about the CTD but it's possible with the EcoD to start the truck even if the DEF error prevents it by jumping the starter relay.

Maybe try a different dealership. Even if it means driving an hour.

Unfortunately, the next nearest dealer is on another island.
My wife is going down on Monday to get a couple of things that she forgot in the truck.
She will find out what they say is wrong with the truck.
Then, I'll call Ram and find out if they are full of crap.
