A little less than 2 Weeks ago I picked up a brand new Ram 1500 Sport crew cab, after 1000kms this is where I'm at now.

Drivers rear door panel rattles with the radio on
Drivers rear door glass has a manufacturing defect and theres a piece of glass basically sticking out of the middle of it.
Air leak at speeds above 80km/h from the passenger side front door area
Heated seats don't work very well at all, I don't know if thats a defect of they just don't get very warm in these trucks, it also feels as if the seat back doesn't heat at all
Worst factory paint job I've ever seen on a vehicle.

Those issues aren't a huge deal and I just chalk it up to mass production but the next 2 I have a huge problem with.

Lifter tick on cold starts, I've heard it twice when I started the truck, most times I remote start it from far away though so I don't know how many times its done it that I haven't heard, its not the Hemi tick its a definite and distinct lifter tick, heres a video, not my truck but mine sounds the exact same during startup. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xENSuondogI

The last one is what I can best describe as a rolling vibration on the highway at speeds of 105km/h on up. Its not the MDS shutter because if I manually put the transmission in 8th it disables the MDS and still does it, but if I shift it to 7th the vibration goes away completely.

I have a service appointment for Tuesday morning for everything I've listed except for the vibration as today was the first time I actually got the truck out on the highway so I'll let them know about that when I take it in.

My question is am I being unreasonable here in the fact that I basically want the dealership or FCA canada to essentially buy the truck back at this point and put me into another one? The first group of issues are whatever but if they have to tear into my brand new truck to replace the lifters and who knows what to fix the vibration but based on my troubleshooting seems to be a transmission issue I find unacceptable on a vehicle this new and with such low mileage.

You haven't even given the dealer/FCA a chance to fix the issues with the truck, yes your being completely unreasonable wanting them to buy it back.

Did you have this shipped to your door?. Sounds like you didn't even test drive it or walk around to inspect it. By the way the Sport does not have heated rear seats so don't worry about that. Hope you can get this resolved.

You probably should of looked the truck over better before signing the papers. Take it in and let them look at it. My truck does the same thing on startup on occasions. I am taking it in on on my next oil change. I know what there doing to say though. No check engine light no problem. It's normal for a hemi. I don't plan on keeping this truck much longer. Hopefully I can trade it by the end of the year.

I've been fortunate enough to not had much issues with any of my new vehicles. The flip side however, if I've had any issues? The Dealer I tend to do business with has owned the situation and corrected it to my satisfaction. I'd have a conversation, then decide where to go if you don't like what you've been told. Just my 2 cents, whatever value it may add at this point.

For the lifter tick, it all depends how long it goes on for and how often it happens. I have a 2014 and every now and then when I start it, there will be a tick for maybe 2 seconds if that. Buddy of mine has a 2014 as well, same thing with his.

To be completely honest it seems to be a common thing with the hemi. Even brand new trucks on the lot will do it sometimes. Usually what happens is either a lifter will bleed down or it will get a small air pocket in it. Neither is really anything to worry about.

However if it's doing it every time you start it and for several seconds, then that's not normal.

We will see how it goes, I'm assuming its going to be "could not duplicate" with the lifter tick. I've built engines and am very mechanically inclined and thats exactly what it sounds like, a bled down lifter pumping back up, no not the biggest deal in the world but not something I expected, or am happy with in a brand new 60k+ truck.

My main concern is the vibration happening between 1800-2100RPM, I've found some threads back as far as 2013 on this issue with it still not being resolved for most people.

I'll bring it in tuesday and let the warranty do its thing, I talked to my salesman today and am feeling better about it so we will see how it goes.

I have had 4 Dodge/Ram trucks 3 with the Hemi all 3 had the Hemi tick. You better get use to it.

Never mind the armchair critics. They act like the 20 minutes you spent with the vehicle test driving it should have shown all minute apparent flaws that only become known after much more time and many more miles of ownership reveal themselves. They'd have you think they spent 2 hours looking their purchase over with a magnifier and on a service lift before buying.

I just bought my first Ram last month, 2014.... with all the problems I read, starting to think I need an extended warranty.

I'm normally one of the people making trouble, nice to be on the other side. :)

Edit: forgot, definitely subscribing to this fun thread.

I'm this close to trading in my Ram, i've had 2 more problems, and that would make it my fourth dealer visit for issues

I appreciate it, judging from some peoples responses on here you would think they either designed, engineered and built every part on this truck themselves. No need to take it personally because someone else is having issues with their truck.

I completely understand none of this is the dealers fault and have no intention of taking it out on the service staff, I'm going to explain the issues, demonstrate them if possible and give them a chance to fix them, hopefully they can get it all resolved because I love the truck and its optioned out exactly the way I would have done it if it was a factory order.
